Exactly. I'm not quite sure how happy Maryland should be to be in Spokane vs. say Oklahoma City, taking TN's spot.

If you base geographical preference on the ranking of seeds are you saying Maryland should have been in Oklahoma City b/c they are a higher #1 than Tenn who you say you would send to Spokane?

I think Maryland got the lowest of the number 1 seeds. Oklahoma is probably as close as they could get Tennessee to its home base. I'm sure it will be a sea of orange.

Huh? Oh no, I'm just saying Maryland probably would rather like the bracket as it is set up in Oklahoma City rather than Spokane. I think I said it earlier that while TA&M and Duke deserve their spots, the difference between say TN and TA&M is -probably- greater than the difference between Maryland and Stanford.

Or to put it more bluntly, basically, I'm saying Stanford is a stronger #2 and challenge.

Obviously nobody from the Big East.

The interview with Southard ought to be interesting. I'm going to bet on her saying that geography was the key to the Greensboro region. I mean, outside of Cal.

BTW, as predicted by many, 8 from the Big East and 8 from the Big XII,

Most balanced bracket, maybe for the crack team?

What's the best link for the bracket? I'm getting mixed results.

Notice when the "experts" from ESPN choose their toughest regions, every region is mentioned except Oklahoma where Tennessee is number 1.

You have a basketball tournament. A women's college basketball tournament. In this tournament are Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland and Duke.

And in this tournament you have a regional in Greensboro, North Carolina.

And in this tournament if you don't put one of Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland or Duke in this regional, you won't sell tickets and no one will come.

Rutgers got robbed.

Or you could say UCONN got robbed, Since RU is the only team to beat them and they could play them later on.

Honestly, I was completely resigned and expecting a #2 seed, I could not be more shocked. The duke loss was fresh enough that it wiped out the memory of the overall strong schedule we played.

I'm glad the crack didn't wipe out the committee's memory. Smile

What the fuck. This year is fucked up. I can't believe UConn and Rutgers are in the same bracket. Unbelievable.

Some would argue that the crack allowed the loss to duke to be discounted.

Not being #1 aside, that bracket looks reasonable till the Elite 8 for Stanford.

UConn and Rutgers in the same bracket? Laughing

I guess you could justify UConn + Rutgers due to the fashion in which UConn whipped 'em in their last encounter as well as Rutgers flaming out of the tourney early.

TN kinda has a cakewalk, as Duke might be the only team that could give them trouble.

LMAO @ this year's tournament. Laughing

Double Laughing Laughing @ all the people who think Rutgers is going to advance far enough in the tourney to potentially face UConn (assuming UConn advances that far as well). You don't think the committee took RU's late-season malaise (20-point thumping @ UConn, loss to #7-seeded Louisville in BET Quarterfinals) into consideration when building the bracket?

Of course, but that's not what the problem here is. The problem is UConn and Rutgers being in the same region, even though both are from the same conference. Even so, UConn is still the number 1 overall seed, and Rutgers still is a very dangerous team, definitely not the worst #2 seed. I would have probably put Texas A&M in the same region as UConn if we're going best of #1 versus worst of #2.

Stanford, fairly or unfairly, was probably hurt by losing to UCLA (and by double digits at that). Maryland didn't have any losses nearly that bad. And it doesn't make much of a difference anyway; both teams have very doable sides of the bracket.

My only major complaint was Rutgers being put in UConn's bracket. That was akin to what they did with Vanderbilt and Tennessee a few years ago. I might have placed Utah a spot or two higher than a #8, but they deserved to be (and presumably were) penalized harshly for losing to a sub-300 RPI team. I would have put them no higher than #6.

Very good by the committee to give both Marist and UTEP #7 seeds. And at #10 Hartford is a spot or two higher than I expected.
