I am excited to follow this tournament this year the bad part is they might only broadcast the Championship game in CA.
Texas and Texas Tech split the previous two meetings as did Nebraska and Kansas so the outcome of those two games will be interesting. OU should handle Missouri easily.

Alright, can someone help me out with Texas Tech? Obviously the PUrdue connection is there with Kristy Curry, but how were they supposed to be this past year?
Did they finish where people thought they would, or did they do worse?

Thats a good question, hopefully some of the Big 12 experts can answer that. I think she is having trouble briginning recruits to Lubbock. What do others think?
She does have 2 early verbals for the 09 class and that is a very positive sign, however, I do not know very much about them.

If you check out the Texas Tech board, I think they're pretty dissapointed. Their JUCOS might just need a year of experience under their belts to be really strong. I think Seals had trouble with consistency, but she's a pretty talented kid at 6'3. Give Curry a few years to see how that hire turned out.
Can we talk about Iowa State walloping Colorado? That should seal up the deal for their NCAA spot as the 8th Big 12 team everyone was predicting. I'm sure the Des Moines sub-regional was a motivating factor for them into this tournament, and good for them especially since they're down two key players most of the season.

I want to retract my statement about OU "easily handling" Missouri. I am follwong the play-by-play on the OUinsider board and Missouri is giving OU all they can handle.
Go Mizz!!!

Texas won, and likely confirmed it's trip to the tourney. Beating Baylor tomorrow would guarantee it (IMHO), but I still think they're in.
Go Horns!

Tomorrow's headlines will call this a shocking loss for OU. But it's really not that shocking. Not if you've paid any attention to the way OU has played in the last few weeks. And not surprising if you've watched Mizzou.
Here's a link for post-game quotes, plus a link if you want to watch the press conference. It's free.

And here's a recap:
http://mutigers.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/recaps/031108aae.html
I wish there was a stat for "bad shots taken". To me, taking a really bad, out of control shot is the same as a turnover. And it would reveal very quickly where OU's offensive weakness lies. Well, the other weakness, besides, overall, the Sooners not being able to hit the floor with their damn hat.
And speaking of hats, mine's off to Courtney Paris, bless her. 30 pts, 20 rebounds in a valiant effort. AP, 12 pts, 23 rebounds. But, that said, CP and Ashley both missed chippies that literally would've made all the difference. Hit just one, and there's no overtime.
But lord knows, I am not laying this loss on the twins. The guards had an abysmal day, with defensive breakdowns that a jr. high squad could've scored on, and an inability to score. How is it possible for such high-caliber players to look this bad at this point in the season? I mean, we're talking at least one McDonald's All American, here, and several more with blue chip accolades. Is the pedigree part of the problem? Have they had so much success up till now that they don't know how to handle losing? How can such experienced players have such fragile confidence? As tired as I am of hearing it, is youth really the big factor?
Watch the press conference. It's really interesting. You'll feel so happy for Coach Stein and her gutsy players. And even if you're a Baylor fan, you'll probably be touched by Ashley Paris' look when she talks about missing 15 point-blank shots. And even if you're Kim Mulkey, you just might be tempted to give Coach Coale a hug.
Okay, I got a little carried away with that last part. Kimmie's loving this!!

Isu is unreal...down 5 with 25 seconds left...they hit a 3...KState hits both FT's...ISU comes back down hits another 3...1 points game...Kstate hits 1 of 2...ISU comes down with 5 seconds left... they drive to the hoop this...Lehning fouls the pg for ISU, 3point play! ISU wins by 1...
How do you give ISU good looks from 3 when you know thats all they shoot?

ISU could very well be playing themselves into the tournament. I don't necessarily think so, but stranger things have happened.

Damnit! I taped this one, and it cut off with 50 secs to go in OT. Sounds like a great finish!

Around the Big 12, most people think this win pretty much guarantees ISU will be in the tournament. They had an RPI of 35 going into this game, 0 losses outside the RPI top 50 (only two of the 11 losses are outside the top 30, even), and an SOS of 27. With today's win, they have 4 top-50 wins (2 of them in the top 25). Also, the fact that they are hosting the first and second rounds might weigh in the minds of the committee, even though it shouldn't.
Granted, I'm an ISU fan, so take what I say with a grain of salt. ![Smile](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif)
