Queenie! I bet you're jumping up and down right now!

St. John's goes on to win at home against Notre Dame 61-51.

Then, Syracuse also wins at home against West Virginia, 73-51.

Outside of the UCONN thrashing of Rutgers, it was an odd night in the Big East.

Oh, and USF beat Marquette, which is also a bit of an upset.

The funny thing is that all that craziness didn't change the standings very much. The RU-UConn game broke a 1st place tie, but seeds 3-10 stayed the same. 11-13 also reshuffled, which was bad news for Villanova, but that's about it.

I'd argue that UConn whupping Rutgers, instead of the game being a close contest, would also qualify as odd tonight. The Wild Wild East just doesn't have the same ring to it, though.

Just finished game notes. Less joyful than I thought I'd be. Senior night's an emotional drain, especially when I have plans the weekend of the BEast tourney.

Krystal Ellis, Kelly Lam and Erin Monfre were benched tonight for Marquette and the loss of Ellis alone is huge for MU but it's still a game they should have won. It made no difference for their final BE standings or BET opponent but it makes a huge difference for their slim NCAA hopes. Post-game quote from Terri Mitchell about this lineup decision:

On decision to keep Ellis, Lam and Monfre out of the lineup:
"I will never give up on my principles. This is a principle based program and it was a tough decision and even if that decision leads to a loss, I hate to lose, but there is a greater lesson here. We lose the game, but we don't lose who we are and that is what it is about."
