Tennessee's men are ranked higher than the women.

that's because they're so shy and demure... you might know them by their "call sign" - the Gentlemen Vols

Same reason Rutgers has one. School gets in Title IX trouble if they don't offer the sport for both men and women. Twisted Evil

Oh chill out folks. B. Pearl has been working towards this for a while. It should not be a surprise.

are you not getting the tongue in cheek because you don't get it or you don't want to get it. Smile

I might say chill out yourself, young daniel, and enjoy the societal irony.

What an eyesore watching Tennessee and Texas (the two teams with the most ugly uniform color combos) blinding everyone watching on TV. This does not even take into account the Volunteers less than photogenic head coach.

Bruce Pearl on PTI tonight. The guys asked if he had been talking trash to Pat Summit and he said "No, can you imagine going to work everyday and being the second best coach in the office."

Also he said its the first time since 1982 that the men are ranked higher than the women. He also said he hopes the men's rise will put UT up there with Duke and UNC as one of the best overall basketball schools in the country.

Harumph.

Guess the UConn men & women have to win some more 'ships in the same year Wink

In all seriousness, it is kinda freaky looking at the polls with the Tennessee men being higher than the women. Bruce Pearl has done a great job with the men's program down in Knoxville.

He also stated that he and Pat have 7 National Titles between them. Very Happy

That's a word for it. I mean, last time I checked, 7>5 (UNC men 4, UNC women 1) and 7>3 (Duke men 3, Duke women 0). Not to mention the fact that both Coach Calhoun and Coach Auriemma are in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

I guess the UConn name just isn't *sexy* enough.

That also means:

UConn 7
Tennessee 7.

Either one wins a championship this year and Tennessee takes the lead.

No, wait. the lead is at least 10 because of UCLA. Gotta beat that before it matters.

Regardless to tomorrow's outcome Coach Pearl has a special place in my heart now, pissing off Uconn fans. Laughing

He gained that in my mind because he has the balls to go out there in the middle of the student section shirtless painted orange. That takes more guts than Pat dressing in a cheerleader outfit and clambering into a pyramid with the other ones.

I'm quite sure nobody wanted to see Pat shirtless painted in orange.

Well, I know that TN & UConn are tied, but he used UNC & Duke as examples of 'best overall basketball' schools, so that is why I compared UConn to both of them.

He didn't piss me off. I just figured that he was mistaken in saying that Duke & UNC are 'best overall basketball' schools.

I have respect for Coach Pearl & what he has done at Tennessee.

If you want UConn to be included among the top overall basketball schools, tell the guys to stop having randomly shitty seasons, stealing laptops, and getting suspended for other reasons. The women can't hold 'em up forever, ya know.

I know, I know. A Rutgers and St. John's fan shouldn't talk, but when has that ever stopped me?
