Fun game. Wish it had been closer in OT2. MD just ran out of steam.

Maryland's gotta feel sick about this game. They had the lead and the ball in the final minute of both regulation and overtime and couldn't close the deal either time. Between the lack of depth and foul trouble, I had serious doubts they could survive a second overtime.

Credit to NC for coming back twice though and showing a resilience they really didn't show down the stretch at UConn.

Go UNC!!!

LaToya Pringle was clutch...and Erlana Larkins rebounded nicely from her second half disappearing act on Monday.

The way Debbie talks, you would think that the three players UConn played without on Monday were bench warmers Rolling Eyes .

Where does Larkins project to go in the draft? Granted I am sure this was one of her best games, so I cannot judge based on one game. At 6'1" and clearly a power forward she is something of a tweener height-wise. If she is around when my team picks I would not mind adding her. A strong, physical energy type is what the Lib could use. Maybe they could cut down the minus 4 rebounding diff that they have pretty much every year.

Pringle dropped 30? Shocked

Well, those WNBA scouts in attendance are probably moving her (and Larkins) into lottery discussion. She and Big Boned pretty much carried UNC to the victory. This is the best post tandem in the country. Sucks that Sacramento won't be able to draft either kid.

Yeah, once two out of three of our big girls fouled out (with some pretty bogus calls on each), keeping things covered was pretty difficult.

Sad, yeah. Sick, no. It was a big game, but we didn't crumble like we would've in the same situation last year. That's gonna matter.

Maryland didn't handle the end of regulation or overtime #1 well from an offense point of view. We played not to lose, but stat of the game was FT attempts.

Whatever Sylvia puts in the refs lockerroom at half time worked as UNC outshot Maryland 38-11 in the second half from the line. Take away the 8 in the final minute and that's still a 19 shot differential with each team battling for every loose ball.

Also, loved the delayed whistle calls. At least make the effort to make it seem legit.

5th big taken (behind Parker, Fowles, Pringle, and Harper). That probably puts her around 8th or so. She's a great player and all, but she's still fat and only 6-1.

Yup, the huskies most efficent player, last year's BE most improved player, and the player that used to get the most minutes....all bench warmers. Wink

Teams with athletic and/or aggressive guards give Maryland fits. This is why they lost to Rutgers (Ajavon and Prince pretty much went wild in the 2nd half). This is why they had fits with Duke, UVA, and Georgia Tech within a one-week span. Foul trouble to star players doomed the aforementioned ACC teams and threatened to do the same to UNC (a team whose guard play isn't on the same level with Duke or UVA or even GT). UNC looked dead in the water midway through the second half because the guard play is really suspect.

However, the Holes are LONG and can rebound from four of five positions. They can defend from all five positions (yes, even Claytor can D-up most of the time). They had the homecourt in their favor. And whatever Sylvia Hatchell said to the refs before the second half worked. UNC got all the calls in the last 30 minutes of the game after being screwed in the first 20. UNC hit the boards religiously and cranked up the defense. No, they didn't get to run wild. However, their high level athleticism at the 3, 4, and 5 positions wore down Maryland. They forced the Terps into ignoring Langhorne in favor of 25 footers and impossible step-backs. Defensively, the Heels had their hands on the ball more than Maryland had their hands on the ball on offense. UNC snatched that game away, and Park's highly questionable coaching decisions certainly didn't help Maryland's case.

Depth, length, and athleticism won the game for UNC. If they had a better coach than Bumpkin Hatchell and a better and more experienced PG than DeCoffeebeans, they might be a Final Four lock. For now, I'm putting them into that Sweet 16/Elite 8 category.

My Tivo missed the second OT. Wish I had seen it. Here's to UNC. They were tough. I question Maryland's depth. They haven't really tried to develop Mingo who has size. The rematch should be interesting. I'd like to see both teams split but I thin that UNC has a good shot at the conference title.

Is it possible that we actually agreed?

Great win UNC.

UNC has made no doubt that they are once again, a Final 4 caliber team. Say what you want about DeGraffenreid at point..... 2 turnovers. Tolliver....8 turnovers.

Say what you want about fouls, refs, and all that other sour grapes. UNC foul shot attempts in the first half=0....MD=12 yet UNC still had the lead and Larkins on the bench with 3 fouls at halftime. MD had their chance during the first 20 minutes.

With all the talk about UNC's turnovers, they had 15 to MD's 20.

Give credit to both teams that played an entertaining game. Without a doubt these two teams are at worst, #3 and #4 in the nation.

Really? I thought because of hype and general body of work, that Humphrey/Larkins would be ahead of Pringle + Harper.

She kind of reminds of Byears. As in, she brings the beef and could really compliment leaner, longer, but less physical posts like Burse/T.Smith/Ohlde.

re: UNC winning.

Good for them. As much as I loathe the special-ed coaching that Hatchell employs and Rashanda McCants-I can't help but root for Larkins/Pringle.

Toliver- 14 assists
DeGraffenreid- 2 assists.

If my PG is orchestrating at least 28 more points....u get the point

Unfortunately for MD, they only had 20 assists as a team to UNC's 23.

On the money. Pringle will be a second round bargain.
