From staff reports

ARDMORE — Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione got a raise, a contract extension and a new title at the school's Board of Regents meeting on Wednesday.
It's a move OU President David Boren told the Associated Press "sends a strong message ... that we desire and expect Joe Castiglione to lead our athletic department for many years.”

Castiglione had been mentioned as a possible candidate to fill the vacant Big 12 Commissioner job.

Castiglione is now vice president for intercollegiate athletics programs and saw his salary bump up to $325,000. He could make a bonus amount of $155,000. Castiglione's contract was extended four years.

Other raises went to football coach Bob Stoops and basketball coaches Sherri Coale and Jeff Capel.

Stoops received a $50,000 annual raise. He now makes $2.625 million a year. His contract extended by two years to December 2013.

Coale got raise from $550,000 to $800,000 a year. Her contract now runs through 2017.

Cool

and now for the rest of the story:

Quote:
Coale now will be the third-highest paid coach in the Big 12, behind new Texas coach Gail Goestenkors and Baylor coach Kim Mulkey. Mulkey has won a national title, while Goestenkors (while at Duke) and Coale each have taken a team to the championship game.

Boren said that even before Oklahoma's contract discussions with Coale began, she turned down an offer to become Texas' head coach, following the retirement of Jody Conradt in March.

``They offered quite a bit more money than she was making, and she turned them down,'' Boren said.

``When people do things like that voluntarily all the time for you, you shouldn't just take them for granted, because she could have gone to Texas for more money than even this contract. She more than deserves what we're doing and we're just trying to send a signal of how much we appreciate her,'' Boren said.

Good for her. I'm glad OU is rewarding her loyalty. She deserves it.
And now with the endowment fund paying for all the scholarships, it will free up money she can use in other areas of her budget.
Great news all the way around for OU women's basketball.

Unfortunately, the part of this story which relates to the Texas job has been debunked.......was apparently a misunderstanding. This is based on reporting from the Norman Transcript and the Daily Disappointment (Oklahoman?). link for Oklahoman story
