I love that they are bringing this over from the men's side.
Not sure though why the B11 - with a bigger average attendance - only gets to host 4 of the games.
Purdue at UNC
Illinois at NC State
Michigan at Miami
Iowa at Georgia Tech
Ohio State at Maryland
Minnesota at Virginia Tech
Wisconsin at Virginia
Clemson at Michigan State
Wake Forest at Northwestern
Florida State at Indiana
Duke at Penn State

I'm underwhelmed.
Michigan State should have gotten a more challenging opponent. There is a good chance they are going to be the top team in the Big Ten next year.
I'm fine with OSU/Maryland as I find the Star Allen/Crystal Langhorne matchup intriguing.

MSU-Duke would have been interesting, to say the least. But Duke already has a series with Penn State (and has had one for a few years now). Made sense to make that the Challenge game.
Might be Lavender on Langhorne early, unless Crystal abuses her.

I am guessing that ESPN at least gets first dibs. I can't imagine they would televise, say, Wake Forest v Northwestern, but since it has the same name as the men's challenge I assume the ESPN is behind this one too.
Again, why does the ACC get so many more home games when the B11 has better attendance. Purdue and Minnesota, in particular, should be at home, given that they get better attnedance than anyone in the ACC.

I'm hoping the Big Ten Network televises some, too.

Wow! What an interesting series. Too bad that there aren't enough exciting games. But UNC/Purdue, OSU/Maryland will be interesting. Otherwise, it's a big sleeper....

I agree with bbfan....Clemson returns a solid group of youngsters who could play a factor in the ACC race next season...they won't win the conference but they could knock off some teams who overlook them. Their true frosh point guard put up pretty good numbers and their all around best player was also a true rookie. They return solid threats at the off guard and power forward position. They have no one to stop DeHaan but they could force Allyssa to have to help advance the ball and limit her effectiveness.

I agree with you on the issue of home games. The B11 should have at least one more home game. And two of the B11 teams who are hosting are Indiana and NW, who are two of the lowest in the conference in terms of attendance.

Iowa at Georgia Tech |
The Big Ten hosts five games, not four. Georgia Tech is traveling to Iowa.

I would've rather have seen a Big-10/Pac-10 challenge. I think alot of those teams are more comparable.
Although, don't rule out a Big-12/Pac-10 challenge. It probably makes more sense from a geographic standpoint. However, at this point, I think the Pac-10 would struggle against the Big-12 teams.

It might look simple but Minnesota still a young team that's still learning. Pam said this team can beat anybody if they put there minds to it or they can lose to anybody if we don't believe in our self. (I think the quote was to that extent) |
Well, let's put it this way instead. Based on what Minnesota retains versus what VT has lost, Minnesota shouldn't lose this game even though it's on the road. Of course, anything can happen in games played early in the season.

The gophers were kind of horrible on the road last year. (I can only hope that changes next year) Our road woes didn't make it much easier for when we had to play Mich state in the Big Ten tourney or Western Kentucky in the WNIT.
I'm atleast happy about having a center bigger then 6'2 to guard bigger post players like DeHaan.

Maryland averaged 9533 fans per game last season (tops in ACC)
Purdue averaged 7585 (tops in Big 10)
Minnesota averaged 6159
Duke averaged 5852
Penn State 5777
North Carolina 4815 (hurt by no home game vs. MD, and let's be honest, Old Carmichael Auditorium is on the small side)
Iowa 4132
Virginia 3958
It looks like the numbers are fairly close for conferences overall.
