Some of the responses are truly depressing. What strikes me as completely whack is the feeling that now it's all "Hip-Hop"s fault, as though you hear explicit lyrics on the airwaves; as if ALL hip-hop and rap is explicit in it's language content- it's not. The FCC doesn't allow explicit lyrics of any kind no matter the musical genre, to be played on air - only edited clean versions can be played. The music industry has been monitoring itself for years- any music, music video/dvd that includes explicit lyrics must have a Parental Advisory sticker clearly on the cover- so that you as a consumer know what you're purchasing and you can choose to purchase it. Maybe the FCC should've been monitoring Imus a little more and his producer.
Anyway- Like Mr Imus' wife said- if you're going to send hate mail and blame someone- blame Mr Imus, he's the on who opened his mouth without thinking.
