Still nothing more than a ballhog, but one who refused to lose. She made some huge plays for her team today.

According to the ESPN box score, she led RU in assists with 5, the same number as Harding, who led Duke. Ajavon had only 2 TOs, too.

RU seemed to be ball-hoggish today. If not for Lindsay's erm, "efforts". 20-25 secs into 70-85% of your posessions? I know it's 90% of the law, but damn! They could have lost this game just as easily.

beknighted, I don't give a shit what the box score says. I know what game I watched. Early in the second half, she'd already missed 8 shots (2-10 from the field) and was also intent on going one-one-one with 7 seconds left. If that's not a ball hog, I don't know what is.

Like I said earlier, Arenas made the shots when her team needed scores.

I'm aware of that. I'm also aware that most people see what they want to see. For instance, I saw a Duke defense that did a very good job making it hard for RU to get the ball into the post, and that closed off passing lanes exceptionally well. That's why it's helpful to have statistics.

Embarassed Forgot that we are talking about the State University of New Jersey here. Silly me! Laughing

But I still believe that Ajavon's a ballhog.

Ajavon took 1/3 of Rutgers shots, 19 out of 57. That's a ballhog.

True, but how many did she make and what about the crucial shots?

I can see if the team scores 104 total, but "Hot Player" scores 102 of them; HOWEVER, when a player is hot: (ie: Ajavon, Bales) why go away from them?

That open shot Allie missed was the BEST drawn up play despite missing! It certainly wouldn't have put Lindsay in such a predicament had it gone down!

Stats don't tell you everything!

She made 7, for 37% shooting.

In the last round, when Rutgers scored 70 points, she took eight shots.

Ajavon did more to keep Duke in the game than Bales and Harding combined.

Actually they were "hogging" the ball! I understand Duke's zone worked through out most of the game, but being aggressive by driving and going to the stripe on offense is just as -- maybe more effective than standing and shooting.

And eating up time! It's only a 40 minute game. I wouldn't wanna play "keep away" with loads to time on the clock giving the D a chance! This is not football.

Today's game! Laughing

But isn't that what a go-to player is supposed to do? She's not Mr. Bryant (65,50,60,50) or Dee (47 in 35 shots) but in comparing Matee to the former two, who was/is she closer to? (Wasn't Dee's 47 in a 1-point 3OT win? She fouled out of that game, too)

You have to credit RU's defense! When you shut down the country's best defender while hitting essentially the game winner -- that says alot. Hey, the best FT shooters, don't always make the foul shots -- evidenced today

She went 4-22 against UConn a few weeks back.

Well, that's why it's not a good idea for a "point guard" to be the primary go-to player.

She is a ballhog, but people don't seem to care because her team is winning right now. Let's see if she gets this much ESPN fanfare if she takes 20-something shots, hits less than 8 of them--and her team loses.

You mean Matee and not Linsday? If Lindsay, then, especially if there's was no foul at all and she missed anyway. She wasn't a very intricate part of the ball game; however, to say "wtf" when Allie takes the best shot possible and misses, it Gail's fault? (Not referring to you) Allison was the go-to NOT Linsday; I agree with you, but if she had the "hot-hand" like Bales? Was Bales even in the final play? (I didn't see her.)

Whoa! It's possible to win with one player shooting 30% or less as that calls for the TEAM to step up, but if they aren't doing well themselves? Laughing

Artistically, it wasn't pretty, but a win is a win no matter how ugly for either side sometimes.

This has been the wildest year, yet! I thought nothing would top last year. 3 teams in last year, but three -- and heaven forbid four -- who would have been n it last year -- go down this year!!
