Very cool - thanks for posting that.

Only thing is my heart sank as I saw Marquette's starting center and second leading scorer Christina Quaye has a mask on in the picture you posted. She looked fine on Monday when I saw her - guess she could have gotten hurt in practice this week. The local media doesn't cover this team so I guess I won't really know anything until tomorrow's game. I hope she's ok to play...

I was about to ask what the mask was all about...

I went to Marquette's website where they have their own photo gallery but not surprisingly they don't have a picture of Quaye in the mask.

This is what coach Terri Mitchell had to say about the mask in a press conference:

"I'm going to put this out there right now because this is not a surprise, this is not hiding anything, if you come into the open practice, you're going to see Christina Quaye with a facemask on, Efueko [Osagie-Landry] gave her a pretty good elbow on Tuesday, it was the last drill, the last thing that we were doing and for Christina's protection we put her in a mask. It has not taken away one second of her practicing or playing time, but I don't want anyone to think it's a big story line when it truly isn't. I really gives you an sample of what was going on at practice and how hard our team was going."

Ditto!

Marquette Fan, glad you got some info on the mask and it's not so bad. Good for the coach to stop any sensationalism before it started.

I wish Gearlds and Medders looked like they work out!

I hate these identical warmups. It's hard to tell which team is which- I had to hold the computer up to my face to see who that was in the Xavier shot, and I can't tell who's doing the skippity-do-da-day in the blue-and-white shot.

I won't feel completely at ease about this until I see Quaye play but it sounds like she'll be ok.

And coach Terri Mitchell's quote on the MU site will probably be the only info I get about this before tomorrow's broadcast. The way things have gone this year with the local media coverage the Milwaukee paper won't have an article about the game in the paper tomorrow (and it will just use an ap recap for a game story). But I was able to read 3 articles from a Louisiana paper about the UL-Lafayette team - nice to see some other cities actually cover their women's teams.

Thanks for your time to do stuff like this. You are one of several on this board that provide so much, we are fortunate not to have to pay for your talent.

Wonder how many coaches in these pics will be wearing different colors in a few weeks?

Can't be any more harsh than she looks on that damn ESPN commercial. If they play that next year I might have to hurt someone.
