Is it a projection or a right now? Because Rutgers would not be eligible for the tournament if it started now.

It's kind of a status thing on where teams would be in the tourney if the selections were made now. Charlie Creme updates it throughout the season. I'm sure it gives some committee members an idea of where teams stand.

I know he updates. I am just wondering what he considers when doing it. I can't imagine putting a team with a losing record, not just in the tournament, but on the top half of the bracket.

I'm pretty sure that he takes into consideration a teams opponents as well as the RPI, much like the selection committee would.

It's too early for that.

Of course it's too early, but it's never too early to speculate as we all do.

From companion article:
Quote:
In January and beyond, each projection is based on the premise, "If the season ended today …" However, since too few games have been played for any team to form a true résumé, this projection is still a combination of the preseason predictions and the snapshot of 10 to 12 games.

Some Charlie Creme's assessments from this point in the season :

Quote:
Stanford and Kentucky aren't ready for prime time.

Quote:
The Big 12 still might not be ready for a complete bounce back.

Quote:
Three No. 1 seeds could come from the same league.

Quote:
Enough good mid-majors exist that this finally could be the year the committee notices.

Quote:
Tennessee vs. North Carolina would be a better game in March.

I always enjoy following the Bracketology throughout the season. I think it's been a pretty fair and balanced projection in the past.
