GA had way too many TO'S in the game, they totally under estimated this team and they are very good.

Maybe now Middle Tennessee can get some love in the polls.

MD was caught by surprise, no reason GA should have underestimated this team....Mid-Tenn is For Real!

Congrats to the Blue Raiders...this is a BIG win for their program.

Wow! Who knew they were this good?

I'm sure they're going to get lots of love if they keep doing this well. Thankfully, they got this big win in as they play lesser ranked opponents. Should provide lots of momentum.

Yes. Could this be the Year of the Midmajors?

MTSU's win also makes the Gophers look better (they destroyed the Gophers on our home floor).

Maybe, but they still do have three losses. They might have to collect a couple more wins before getting a shot at entering the polls. Then again, the voters did put New Mexico back in...

I love MTSU. They'll play anyone, anywhere, in any sport, and ain't scared of nobody. That's an awesome attitude to have, even if you go to Florida and get beat 62-3.

And 2 of those losses were to MD (whom they had a chance to beat) and at TN...Stanford is ranked and they have 3 losses and couldn't beat GA...

Doesn't matter to some voters. A loss is a loss...even if it is deemed a "good loss". I don't think a blowout loss to UT qualifies as a "good loss", but the Maryland loss would be as "good" a loss as one can get. MTSU will have to pick up a few more wins in a row (assuming a large number of teams don't drop out of the Top 25 next week) to make up for that loss at home to South Dakota State. Right now, they just have a reason to be noticed again.

Isn't Stanford ranked in the preseason polls every year? Don't they play in a BCS conference? Think that might have something to do with them still being ranked despite those three losses?

MTSU has not been a program to take lightly for several years now. Just ask the Tar Heels. Laughing

I see Middle Tennessee is starting to defeat major conference opponents who *aren't* from the state of North Carolina. Good for them. Show some variety.

Nice story on the game. Holt was supposed to go to Georgia but her credits from jr. college wouldn't transfer and she ended up at Middle Tennessee, only to burn them for 21 points last night.

Givens did well too.

Played small ball. Landers worried because he can't simulate this in practice.

Uh, let us not forget that South Dakota State has beaten Southern Cal and Virginia this year, both pretty good programs.

I was just going to say that. Mark Trakh even told the press that SDSU was good before their game. Most people assumed it would be an easy win for them and clearly for those not in the know, SDSU proved themselves.

All of that suggests that SDSU has more business being ranked than MTSU.

If not for the loss to Arkansas State, they might be.

SDSU can't play in the NCAA tournament, they're only provisionally D-I, so some voters may think it's inappropriate to rank them.

MTSU will get the same amount of love as other mid-majors...zilch.

They'll still have to win their conference tournament to get into the NCAAs, even if they run the table from here on out. And if they do get in, they'll probably be seeded about 2-3 spots too low.

This isn't like the men's game, where the midmajors at least have a prayer. You won't be seeing the Missouri Valley or any of its ilk getting three NCAA bids on the women's side anytime soon.

Didn't they lose to Arkansas State? That's what I thought.

CHRISSY GIVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If her stock continues to rise(as well as Middle Tenn.) she just might end up a first round pick.

There's a team in the top 25 with no wins anywhere close to being as impressive as the ones mentioned above for SDSU and who lost at home to Hofstra.

maybe the pollsters know Stanford will get their pg back and their 2nd ranked frosh class will get their legs under them after some nagging injuries.

Maybe a loss at TN and GA early in the season isn't a bad thing, and maybe they credit Stanford for playing 4 ranked teams under those circumstances, which can't be said for other teams. Maybe they think Tara knows what she's is doing by overachieving and getting to the last E8s, with seconds or one shot away from a F4.

I for one would love to see TN again in March in the Fresno regional.

National championship game appearance in 2005. Sweet 16 in 2006.

For the record, I agree with you. Michigan State isn't close to being a Top 25 team this season. Games against LSU, Maryland, Purdue, and O$U will show us that. I can see them losing to Wisconsin and even Penn State this season. But we all know that it's much harder to crack the Top 25 than it is to drop from it. Voters never like to admit that they were "wrong" about a team (or six).
