Gophers women's basketball forward Tanisha Smith is expected to miss the rest of her freshman season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee, suffered in Saturday's blowout victory over Chicago State.
She played eight minutes in three of the Gophers' first nine games, recording two points, a rebound and three steals.

She is not expected to be eligible to receive a fifth year of college eligibility because the team is more than 20 percent of the way through its season.
