I was actually pretty worried about this game, given that it's against Kay Yow. But Purdue has completely dominated this game in a huge thumping. At the 2 minute mark Purdue is up almost 30 points, and it's been a balanced attack. Katie Gearlds is the high scorer and she only has 14 points. Plus, Purdue is playing outstanding defense.

Too bad no one went to Mackey to watch this game. Apparently not even 2000 people there......bad weather and the game wasn't on the season ticket package from what I understand. That's a shame.

Yes, great score; but the crowd numbers don't bode well for homecourt advantage in the final. Still.......Boiler up!

According to the AP, the 38 points scored by the Wolfpack are the fewest in N.C. State women's history. Also, Purdue has given up only 44 points per game in wins over Belmont, Hartford and N.C. State so far this season and held all three to under 35 percent shooting.

Looks like the defense is firing on all cylinders so far. I guess Versyp has translated her focus on defensive intensity to this team.

Congrats to Purdue. Wish the final would be on TV.

Boy am I glad I missed that! I expected the loss, but 22% shooting? No Shocked

If Baylor wins tonight the final will be at Baylor on Sunday and can be seen via streaming internet. If BYU wins it will be on Monday at Purdue.

I was one of the few at the game, and it was a pretty empty arena.

I think a couple thing conspired against good attendance. It wasn't on the season ticket package, and neither is the Washington game on Friday. So, if you purchased the Washington tickets when you ordered your season tickets (an option), you'd be able to watch Purdue 3 times in a week already. That's enough basketball for many fans.

It was not promoted in town at all. Not a single radio ad, the newspapers are carrying the ad promoting the Men's/Women's double header (the Washington game for the women) and didn't mention the Wednesday game. Finally, the ticket price was $4 higher than regular season prices.

Someone suggested on the Purdue board that the ticket price was set by the WNIT, not Purdue. Any idea if that's true.

I was also at the game, and can assure PalaceAthena that the Boilers' defense has indeed been dominant. Hard to believe that the 24-point margin in the opening round over Belmont is Purdue's slimmest so far this (admittedly young) season.

By the way, sophomore guard Lauren Mioton is writing a weekly diary for the Lafayette Journal and Courier's site. Here is the current installment.

Classy response...I don't think any of us thought Purdue would have as easy of a game as it turned out to be. I am sure it is a blip on the radar for the Wolfpack and they will regroup and learn from this game. Good luck with the rest of your season.

I'm loving this new age of streaming video and radio.
