The Star asked Patterson about items bought in 2004 and 2005, and her answers — provided via e-mail — ran in a published report Oct. 1. But letters the school sent to the NCAA, which recently were obtained by The Star through the Kansas Open Records Act, revealed different details.

Let's see... in April 2004, Patterson buys clothing for Ohlde, and KSU self-reports, admonishes Patterson and holds rules education classes for the women's coaching staff. Then, in April 2005, Patterson buys a laptop for Koehn, and KSU again self-reports, admonishes Patterson and holds rules education classes. But Patterson told the newspaper that she didn't know that the laptop was a violation; said it was reported, or something, but it actually wasn't reported until after Patterson said that it had been. All that 17 months after violation.

One thing is clear: Somewhere in there, Patterson didn't tell the truth to the press.

Seems a lot worse than retyping a paper.

So, Wecker missed the gift list??? Is that part of Kendra's beef?

Actually, I think Kendra's discontent is pretty well founded in what I have read. But, this just casts a whole different light on things.

Does a coach remain a coach to these players the rest of their lives? Does the relationship never move beyond that level?

Patterson seems to have lied about this.

But don't let personal agendas get in your way of facts. It wouldn't be like you.

Patterson isn't clear of this situation yet either, with this coming out. She may be looking for work by the end of the year, especially if there are more transfers and discontent in Manhattan.
