Well... I can officially feel for Tasha. Tonight I was issued at $250+ citation for underage drinking on campus... 3 hours before our football game. I could have made a list of at least 30 people who were drinking underage within walking distance. WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME.

Well that stinks for them, because she is missing games against Rutgers and Stanford.

That seems pretty extreme. I don't want to speculate, but me thinks there must be some extenuating circumstances we are unaware of.

For the athletic program at UGA, there is a mandatory three game (ten percent of games) suspension, and Landers doubled it. I don't think it is as harsh as it could have been. I think it's appropriate, even if the thought of Tasha missing both the Rutgers and Stanford game dissapoints me as a fan of the program. It is unclear if the exhibition games count in the total of six.

According to ESPN, preseason games do not count. Humphrey will miss the Stanford and Rutgers games among the six.

well, shouldn't there be two punishments? One by the school (student govt? school council? etc) and one by the coach/athletic dept?

Bball was referring to Sugar, Tasha's mother...and the Georgia assistant coach.

deleted...all of the information that I posted is on ESPN.
UGA fans should get a glimpse of who's going to be those other consistent scorers in Humprhey's abscence. I'll go with Chambers and Houts.

What kind of knee surgery did she have and when did she have it?

She had her knee scoped, I beleive. She had it this summer. Here's the ESPN article about the suspension in case you have not seen it. It mentions the injury situation.

It's disappointing, but I think it's appropriate, as others have said.
Tasha is a big girl, and she will have six long games to learn a lesson. She will also have six games to build up steam that she may consider taking out on the rest of WCBB.
Tasha may miss the last six games, but she will be there for the last six, and that is what counts.
Good luck, Tasha and UGA -- and be good!

Damn. I guess Tasha won't be getting loose with the Goose any time soon. Sounds like she won't even be sipping Robitussen.
Lil OT but it couldn't be me spending what are supposed to be 4 of the wildest years of my life playing for my mother. In times like this, that must be a little awkward.

This issue is VERY simple.
Argument for Tasha:
EVERY student in college drinks. EVERYONE.
Some more than other, some ALOT MORE than others.
Kids drink not cuz they like beer, but cuz it helps you cope with large groups of people/socializing.
Argument against Tahsa:
Tasha isnt a "normal" college student cuz she is getting her tuition for FREE. She should be MORE responsible than normal students.
In conclusion...
There is no indication of how drunk shes was so I give her a pass.
I mean shucks what if she had like 1 beer? Then this whole story is weak.
I find it hard to believe she is a raving drunk...so give her a slap on the wrist tell her to be SMARTER next time. If your gonna drink Tasha, be a TAD MORE discrete. PLEASE? Dunk you very much

That is patently untrue. Research shows that about a third of college students don't drink at all.

I find this an amusingly strange issue ("underage" drinking), but very disappointed about Tasha's harsh treatment |

OMG! I'm a figment of someone's imagination! I don't exist! I'm a college student who not only doesn't drink, but doesn't *like* alcohol! *disappears in a puff of chop-logic*

6 games?
It's not like she was in a fight outside a strip club at 3:00 in the morning w/ weed in the car...

Same here, Queenie! I am a college student who cannot stand the taste of alcohol.
I go to a D3 school and I can't tell you how many student-athletes drink but I know it is a lot. I don't party but two of my roommates do and I hear stories about how crazy parties were at the Hockey House or B-ball house or Softball house. My school is known, or used to be known, for its partying. In the 80s it was on Playboys top 10 list of Biggest Party Schools, a little ass school up in the mountains of NH!
Anyways, I feel sorry for Tasha for getting caught but girl needs to learn to be more sneaky with her booze.
