Are free agents guaranteed roster spots?? I hope not...we've done this before: Sign free agents and come camp they disappear. I hope that's what happens here. Don't want Kelley Gibson in NY period!

The New York Liberty signed Jawann Kelley Gibson as a free agent.
The Houston Comets signed Tracy Reid as a free agent.

Methinks we need to work on getting Inoital here; he/she is 4 for 4 so far.

Did you set up that appointment to see Zeke yet to straighten him out too? Good to see Malik played a whole 9 minutes thus far!

note: malike rose rebounds. we don't like rebounders here in new york.

You don't like tall people in New York either, apparently... Welcome to a front lineup of 6'9", 6'8", and 6'8"... now that's got to spell success Exclamation

You guys are making one old gal in Houston, TX laugh all day long with your comments about Gibson's prowess. or lack thereof, on the court.

I do remember seeing her in a Stealth uniform and wondering why she didn't move that quickly in Comets' Red. And where in the world has she been? Did she have to take a year off due to Olympic Game conflicts???

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I just cracked myself up with that one.

Having said that, I wonder if ole Van would consider re-signing Tyger Lewis? Man, I loved that little gal and we still haven't heard anything from Arcain-ville.

OK...I am peeing in my pants laughing so hard at this interchange....

#00, indeed...somebody take her before someone finds a reason to keep her. I don't know if Kar is up to the challenge, but she will prove to be worth her weight in gold if Tiff Johnson is not in a Comets uni this season or any other.

as it is said in new yawk, guh-head. no, guh-head. laugh at our expense. (hmph!)

someone emailed asking who the hell this gibson person is. i said:

i'm not even sure what position she should be playing - van always threw her into games haphazardly. but i'll tell you what she's not: she's not a point guard, she's not a shooter, she's not a scorer, she's not a defensive threat, she doesn't see the court well, she doesn't have good instincts, she's not big or bulky, she's not tall . . . she's not anything i can think of.

that's my knowledge of her. call it limited but, as the saying goes, i have seen enough to know that i have seen too much.

Of course not.

You're all over-reacting. Teams were signing training camp fodder this early last year.

You're giving Blaze way too much credit. We all know she can sign players despite what the coach wants. I wouldn't be shocked if Gibson made the cut.

Keegan, this is Kelley Gibson, the remora of the WNBA. And it's also the first move New York has made. It smacks of incompetence.

yeah, WAY too much credit. the liberty don't have time to be dilly-dallyin'. if she was brought on board, she was believed to be potentially worthy. she is not worthy, not even close. not even as a practice player. if i were blaze, i'd be embarrassed as hell. what a joke this must be to the rest of the league, that she would give credence to such a scrub.

arrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh!

Maybe she'll take Bethany's spot, I'm not mad at that. I change my mind about Kelley, who I was willing to give a shot but now I think we should find someone else.

I think Donaphin is better than Stephens but neither of them should really be in any rotation.

Nah, Bethany ain't better than Stacy Stephens! At least Stacy Stephens attempts to rebound. Bethany just wills the ball to comes to her. And since she don't have special powers, the ball won't go to her!

Stephens, I suspect, is a good scrub player. When she got into games with the Shock (usually when the ending was already determined) she was overly excited to be in the game and made many careless errors. Eventually, she took up space on the bench and made a great cheerleader in street clothes.

I gotta confess here that I loves me some Stacey Stephens. She is undersized for the 5, but can bang the boards big time with those big hands of hers. She is a "project" player in every sense of the word. She will never be a star in the W, but could be groomed into a servicable player that would help a team maintain while a star sits.

I think she is solid in terms of her knowlege of the game and what she knows she can do. She didn't just sit under Coach Conradt for four years and not learn something about this game. She probably needs lots of coaching on how to play the professional game, and I applaud her for not giving up yet by at least playing in the NWBL this year...for whatever that is worth, it is basketball. She could have just gotten a job in her degree area and hung up the kicks.

So GO STACEY...Go until they make you stop!
