14-13 UNC with under 12 minutes in the first half.

Good game thus far; much closer than expected.

This is going to be a GOOD game. If the first 10 minutes are any indication, we should be in for a treat.

Whittington and Stansbury are tired already. I wonder if UNC sees this.

41-33 UNC. Latta turns the ball over to McDowell. McDowell tries to go past McCants and is royally served.

Definitely a break-out game for LaToya Pringle.

Ugly game. Give State credit for playing tough the whole way through. I didn't really see much that was impressive about Carolina today except that they found a way to win despite their mistakes and sloppy play. Without Larkins in the first half and Pringle in the second, I think State woulda took it. Lousy game for Latta. They put a tall player on her much of the game and her shooting was abysmal. I would've liked to see her & Carolina play more up to their potential on TV.

Is it okay to consider Gillian Goring a bust?

FYI: Coming out of high school, Goring was named along with three other classmates of her's as "program changers." The other three were Shanna Zolman, Ann Strother and Willnett Crockett. Confused

High School ratings are pretty close to meaningless.

Those aren't rankings, those were supposed be kids that were supposed to bring their respective programs to a whole new level. IMO, there is a difference.

Well this game was exhausting. I know the ladies played their hearts out, and the crowd appreciated it.

It was ugly, but credit to UNC, the better team today. They could handle any pressure our team, and the crowd, tried to bring.

I had a comment to make about Latta's behavior, and Sylvia's shirt, but they're 99% jealousy Twisted Evil .

Pringle is a like a whippet, all thin and long and in the right place when she needs to be.

We've never ever found a way of dealing with Larkins.

Dickens and McDowell had good games, probably related to the fact that they seemed the least afraid of UNC. Pope seemed to make a lot of mistakes.

It pains me to say, because she's a favorite, but Whittington had a bad game. I know Yow said she's coming off an illness (along with Stansbury). But I think it was really emotions that got the best of her. There was a lot of emotion at the game, she had a couple fouls called against her she (well, it wasn't just her) took issue with. She's our most emotional player and usually that's a good thing, but she let it take her out of her game. Getting up in a refs face is not the way to go.

Hopefully the experience will strengthen the team.

Latta was so crunk today (despite an off-game by her standards)! I loved it! Even if you HATE the 'Heels, you've gotta love their jovial, 21-year-old PG. Smile Her LATTAtude makes her even better.

As for Sylvia Hatchell's blinding attire, no comment. Smile We already know that the woman dresses in a port-a-potty.

Oh no! DTS is the resident creative genius here. I stole that "gem" from Debbie and Beth.

Every team has off days, with Latta struggling it seemed to kinda throw off the rest of the team (except for a couple).

I was wrong for that. Laughing But hey I'm not the only one who noticed her "ensemble":

http://www.herald-sun.com/sports/18-690021.html

Quote:
North Carolina coach Sylvia Hatchell wore a cream-colored suit with elaborate gold lions' heads on the shoulders for Sunday's grudge match against N.C. State.

Quote:
After the No. 4 Tar Heels held off the feisty No. 25 Wolfpack for a 65-53 victory at Reynolds Coliseum, Hatchell had established herself as one of the queens of the women's basketball jungle yet again.

sweet jesus...

Quote:
Latta stroked the lions heads on Hatchell's shoulder after her coach called her "the best point guard in America."

Well, when UNC and Duke dominate 90% of your commentary, it's easy to come up with clever phrases like that. Wink

Thanks for providing those quotes from the Herald Sun, ChiChi! Those are great! Laughing Hatchell knows she was dead wrong for wearing that "suit".
