Lexi Brown talks about the offer.

Jackie Young is the highest current salary in the WNBA at $252,000. The ESPN announcer claims to have looked that up somewhere??

Unfortunately, certain other sports salary sites are a font of misinformation.

And, uh, I think you meant Lexie Brown. Lexi Belle is an altogether different kind of entertainer...

If the league doesn't publish salaries how can anyone be accurate? When she named only one player my thought was there should be a bunch of players sitting at the league max.

By sourcing information from reliable, proven sources.

Wouldn't the WNBA be the only reliable source?

Honestly not sure if you're taking the piss at this point. So is every piece of journalism in world history a complete waste of time? Fuck Woodward and Bernstein, you're not going to believe anything until you hear it directly from the Nixon White House? To use a rather more direct analogy, do you disbelieve all the salary information that's floating around about every other sport? Because all the info from Woj, or Shams Charania, or Bobby Marks, or Adam Shefter, and all the salary numbers that are public in the NFL, NBA, NHL or wherever else are sourced by journalists and organisations. Virtually none of it is released by the leagues/teams themselves.

So in answer to your original question: No.

I legitimately don't understand the process or why it would exist. Who tells the sporting press what WNBA players have allegedly signed for? Agents, players, teams, the league? And what is their reason for doing so? And I say allegedly, because there would be an incentive in average or low-paid signings for players and agents to give a higher figure than actual to make the player/deal seem better. Or does the sporting press require PDFs/images of the documents involved?

Richyyy is connected. Richyyy's numbers are as accurate as they come, and can be trusted.

Who is he connected to? Players? Agents? Teams? The league? Do the teams have to share their payroll information with each other? That is, do you, as an Aces employee, personally have access to what all the salaries in the league are?

He's not going to do anything as mind-bogglingly stupid as reveal his confidential sources because some rando on a message board is asking questions.

The teams and the league have been trying to figure that out for years.

Very Happy

They do.

I would add that in other leagues, my educated guess is that this information gets leaked by agents, as they want people to know how much money they are getting for their clients. That incentive doesn't exist in the same way in the WNBA given the low salary cap numbers.

I was asking for categories, not names. And had been thinking the sources and recipients ("the press") were multiple. But now I think I've got it.
