Perhaps this interpretation reasonable, as there is now a report that Raegan Beers has committed to Oklahoma. Don't have any link to prove it yet. |

I can't think of a better fit for her....there will be great mutual benefits, imo.

Princeton guard Kaitlyn Chen grad transfers to UConn.
I really don't understand this unless Geno knows something negative about the health of the abundance of other guards he will have. Chen never impressed me that much in most of the games I've seen her in, though she played well against UConn, and she's only a 29% career 3pt shooter, which is worse than Bueckers, Shade, Arnold, Samuels, Fudd, and probably incoming frosh Ziebell and Cheli. Why does he need a below average 3pt shooting PG who will just take minutes from recruits or never get many minutes?
What UConn mostly needs is big C or PF. No arguable big on the current roster has proved herself (Patterson, Brady) or has ever played a college game (El Alfy). From the portal, Raegan Beers is the obvious experienced solution if she is interested in UConn.

well you can't convince me ducharme will ever play again, so that's one less guard to compete with for PT

I know of a particular fan forum where you would not be allowed to express that opinion. In all seriousness though, I really do hope that Ducharme is healthy enough to resume her playing career.

I knew about Amina being a prospect....I believe her brother might play football for Oregon. I hope she's a strong addition - I was impressed when I saw her play, and she got a lotta minutes with Vic. The others I don't know much about.

Falatea had a pretty strong year at BYU in 22-23 but didn't play this year. Good 3 point shooter and passing point guard. I don't know anything about the other

The portal is now closed for entries. Now let the signing scramble begin (as if it hadn't already)!

The portal isn't closed, the date has passed to guarantee being able to play next year, but people can still enter the portal, and they can submit a waiver to try to play next year, but no guarantee it will be granted.

Deja Kelly to Oregon.
I hope this works out for her. I also still think this might be addition by subtraction for UNC, sort of like Caleb Love leaving the men's team after the 2022-23 season.

I knew she had visited, but wasn't too sure where that was going. Oregon is definitely going to need her leadership experience in the backcourt to regain some status again.

I hope it works out. Yes, the 16 points per game is nice, but... 34% from the field, 28% from three, 68% from the line, and 3.2 assists/2.7 turnovers per game last season.

Notre Dame picked up Liza Karlen (from Marquette) and Liatu King (from Pitt). Both players were all conference last season. Clearly, Niele Ivey is going for broke this year, as a lot of Irish talent will be out of eligibility next season. Players that should be available for next season:
P Kate Koval (fr)
F Maddy Westbeld (grad)
F Liza Karlen (grad)
F Laitu King (grad)
W Sonia Citron (sr)
W Cass Prosper (rdsh so)
W Emma Risch (rdsh fr)
G Olivia Miles rdsh jr)
G Hannah Hidalgo (so)
G KK Bransford (jr)
Bolded players are starting their last year of eligibility and Liv Miles may also leave after this season for the W.
I didn't list C Kylee Watson as she will probably miss the upcoming season as she suffered an ACL injury late last season.

And adding on to this is the commitment from 2025 recruit Leah Macy. A great day for the Irish!

The Asst/TO ratio is almost identical to Chance Gray's numbers (also pg) who Deja will be replacing. Also, Chance's other numbers (2 year avg):
Pts: 12, fg%: 34%, 3%: 33%. DEFINITELY better than Deja on FTs: 84%.
Overall, I'd say the stats are a wash, but Deja (whenever I saw her) was a LEADER on the floor. Chance never looked comfortable at the pg position, but from what Ohio State is touting, she's expected to be Jacy Sheldon's replacement.
I hope they BOTH have a career-best season for themselves. I'll be looking forward to the OR - OH St. matchup.

Tennessee adds Jr. PG Samara Spencer from Arkansas. So far nobody of any import. I guess Caldwell figures she'll build her team from the bottom up. After 32 years of making the NCAA tournament, will next season be the first year the Lady Vols don't?
Am I sour on the new coach? You bet. They could have done way better. Didn't.

The jury is still out on Caldwell because she has only been on a job for a month. But if you're not happy with the roster, you should really blame Kelly Harper, as she did a very poor job securing high school commitments. If you go over the past few years of HS recruiting, you can see a disturbing pattern:
2020: 2 players
4-star Destiny Salary (left after freshman year)
3-star Tess Darby (stayed at Tenn and coming back for 5th year)
2021: 4 players
4-star Sara Puckett (still at Tenn)
4-star Karoline Striplin (left after jr year)
4-star Kaiya Wynn (still at Tenn)
3-star Brooklyn Pope (left after soph year)
2022: 1 player
5-star Justine Pissot (left after fr year)
2023: no recruits
2024: 1 player
4-star Kaniya Boyd (will first play in 2024-25 season)
So in 5 years, Tenn only recruited 8 players (and on only 1 5-star). And of the 7 players that have actually started their collegiate playing career, only 3 are left. Losing 4/7 isn't that unusual these days, but when you average less than 2 recruits/year, that's a big problem. The solution for Coach Harper was to raid the portal, but that is not sustainable.
Alyssa Latham had a very nice freshman year at Syracuse, so I think she's a nice addition. Lazaria Spearman isn't bad, but she's no All-American either. I'm not impressed by Spencer either, but asking Caldwell to succeed in the portal is a tough ask, given that she really hasn't experienced it at a P5 level yet.
Who did you hope Tennessee could/would hire? Tennessee has a glorious history in WCBB, but the bloom is off the rose at this point.

I hoped that Tennessee would hire someone with a LOT more D-I experience---if they were dead set on firing Kellie, which I was anti in the first place. There were a lot of names out there and I won't even go into them. The only one I was dead set against was Jeff Walz because I absolutely cannot stand the guy. They could have jumped at Kenny Brooks but Kentucky got there first because Danny White was too damn deliberate (read: slow).
Oh, and it's Brooklynn MILES, who has since left Kentucky too.
I basically don't like Kim because I don't think she has enough experience. ONE year in D-I does not make you a good D-I coach, no matter how good that year was, and especially does not qualify you to jump from the mid-majors to the SEC. I don't care what her D-II record was. D-II is a different animal entirely.
