And where will she end up next? Wasn't she one of Kimmie's recruits? Yet she was scuttled in favor of Bayou Barbie (ick) who brings in more $$$. Okay, the betting pool begins in 5-4-3-2-1...GO!

Poole is a junior that transferred from OSU. Not sure who would want to spend two years of scholarship on a one year player, so she may be done for good and all.

I'd sure like to hear her story. Under Duke's previous coach, players were off/on/off. One player, who was part of Chelsea Gray's class, silently left the team, graduated and wasn't even mentioned again. I do keep track of her overseas.

Depending on what happened this season, since she only played 4 games she could petition to get this season to count as a redshirt. Of course that all depends on what happened, but if she wants to, definitely something she can look into and talk to other schools about working with her.

Why would a school need to give her a scholarship that is longer than her eligibility?

They do it all the time to graduates. What's the difference? Besides, if she gets a waiver for this year, she has two years left. What is your problem?

She is already played in too many games to get a redshirt, her junior year is toast. And only 1 in 4 get waivers to play immediately. So she likely has to sit a year to play a year, hence two years scholarship to get one year of play from her.

She played in 4. That's hardly too many. Get a grip.

Actually that is EXACTLY the limit 4 games or 30% of the season, whichever is lesser, so this can count as a redshirt year, but she will still have to sit out a year when she transfers.

I believe both of you are confusing an academic redshirt and a medical redshirt.

For sports other than football, you can't compete at all to receive an academic redshirt (most frequently used for freshmen who need to develop physically or who won't see playing time).

The 4 game rule is for football academic redshirts only (this game amount increases for bowl and playoff games).

Medical redshirts are when a student athlete suffers an injury:
    Deemed “season-ending”
Their injury must occur before the halfway point of the season
Not participate in more than 30% of the season’s games

This might be moot under a new federal court ruling (see that thread). I rest my case.
