Just posted about Duke on the "transfer out" thread so sorry for the repeat or those who read it.

Duke: OUT Celeste Taylor, Shayeann Day-Wilson
IN: Taina Mair, Camilla Emsbo

Celeste was NDPOY runner up last year at Duke, now starting at Ohio St. Shayeann had a less than stellar sophomore season, now at Miami. Impact on Duke - Celeste's late transfer left Duke with a short bench and lots of players new to the system. Duke's stifling defense of last year is improving game by game as (post Celeste) defensive rotations become crisper and lineup combos on the floor stabilize. After Shayeann's bust of a soph season, she's been more than replaced by Taina Mair, who is much more comfortable running an offense and starting plays quickly. Emsbo was all first team Ivy at Yale, came off the bench at Duke but now looks like a starter. She gives Duke a second very different look at center compared to Kennedy Brown.

Other transfers of note:

LSU: Last season's transfers in of Angel Reese and Alexis Morris got them a National Championship. This year Hailey Van Lith and Annessa Morrow are taking a while to fit, with last year's star Angel being the primary casualty so far. Also, the Van Lith at PG experiment is a work in progress. Maryland has not fared well since the transfers out of Reese and Owusu and graduation of Diamond Miller (WNBA all rookie team) as the Terps just fell out of the T25.

Tennessee: Last year's transfer in of Rickea Jackson was a great success and her play was seeing her mentioned in the WNBA draft lottery - we'll see how she comes back from current injury. This year's transfer in of sharp shooter Jewell Spear - the jury's still out but she did not start today vs Indiana.

Please add more - and more detail about transfers in/out and how that's impacted teams you follow.

Between incoming transfers, outgoing transfers, freshmen coming in, and seniors graduating (shoutout to Kadaja Bailey for sticking it out), St. John's only has four players returning from last season on a roster that currently carries 12. We're getting a lot from Jillian Archer (on her third stop, after USC and Georgetown) and Amber Brown (on her second stop, after Pitt). But the lack of continuity means there really isn't any sense of progress. While we're on a bit of a streak with keeping guards (shoutout to Kadaja and to Unique Drake who is finally getting her time to shine), I think three straight years of outgoing star guards is not great.

Seton Hall has also been relying on transfers, even more so now that Shailyn Pinkney is either hurt or in the doghouse. Four of SHU's five starters didn't start their careers at the Hall. I think they've been able to come together better than STJ's transfers, but again: there's no continuity, there's no progress, there's no... I guess character arc is the wrong word here, but except for Amari Wright, we're not getting to see a player's entire development. (as a note from the other thread, we are very appreciative of Azana Baines)

Columbia is a weird case, because they lost a lot to the portal because they *had* to lose a lot to the portal because of Ivy League rules.

FDU is getting major contributions from incoming transfer Tenesia Brown, and some shooting from Nickie Carter, but I think losing Chloe Wilson to Delaware hurt more than anyone's gonna let on.

It's just all very messy and I don't like it.

Other than the 5 freshmen on Purdue's team, the other newcomers this year were transfers in Mila Reynolds from Maryland, and Alaina Harper. We have three 5th year seniors that were all transfers in. Abby Ellis, Caitlin Harper, and Janai Terry. In fact the only two players returning this year that started at Purdue were Madison Layden and Jayla Smith. There are three sets of sisters on this years team, and all three sets of sisters share one house together. Next year we get one more Reynolds sister to bag the whole set of three, but lose the elder Harper and maybe the older Layden although she is eligible to come back for her COVID year. In the last 3 years we have lost about a dozen players to the portal, some being quite successful at their next stop.

JMU got Olivia Mullins from St. Joe's, Carole Miller from UVA, and Ashanti Barnes from Trinity Valley CC, in addition to Hevynne Bristow from Ohio State, with whose waiver the NCAA is still dinking around (because they can, I guess). In addition, we have freshmen Jada Mills and Atiana Williams. The only transfer out we had was Kiki Jefferson, who I note is doing great things at Louisville. No grudge against her, really---she is a fifth year senior who chose to get her WNBA draft status more visible, and I wish her the best of luck.

All of JMU's transfers in have done great things for them, Ashanti Barnes and Hevynne Bristow in particular. Barnes is one helluva spark off the bench, sometimes close to the highest pointmaker. Bristow also usually comes off the bench, and has been the highest scorer in a couple of games. Olivia Mullins is the starting PG and divides her minutes with Chloe Sterling, and Carole Miller has given us some valuable minutes on both offense and especially on defense. I'd say Coach has done pretty well.

How is everyone else's team doing with transfers in or out? Missing anyone?

St. John's has already had one of the inbound transfers leave the team, which has left us running some truly facocta four-guard lineups because God forbid we play freshmen.
