Stanford at #15 with two other conference schools ranked ahead at #4 and #5. Wonder how long it's been since Stanford has been ranked that low nationally and in conference. |

Well, UCLA has Tara to thank for THAT, letting #1 recruit Lauren Betts slip through her fingers the way she did. Obviously not ALL of the equation, but definitely relevant. In fairness, Tara HAS always talked of supporting increased parity in the PAC, so it's come to be. Still sad that it's breaking up so radically.

I agree. I also think Tennessee will be very good this year. How is their outside shooting?

Tess Darby was one of the best 3 point shooters in the SEC last year (41%), though she has struggled at times getting her shot off against elite competition. Adding Jewel Spear and Destinee Wells from the transfer portal should help a ton. Destinee shot over 45% from 3 last season on over 4 attempts per game, though TBD how that translates to the SEC. Spear was at 35% on 8 attempts per game last season, but she shouldn't have to carry as heavy of a load as she did at Wake Forest (she shot 40% from 3 her freshman year). Rickea Jackson also knows she needs to improve her outside shooting to succeed in the WNBA, so I hope she'll be better than her 31% last year. Sara Puckett should be improved, too.
Rebounding and defense are actually the bigger question marks for this team, especially with the unknowns about how long it will take Tamari Key to be in game shape.

Kellie was certainly harping on and on about rebounding in her media day interview.

I know it's only pre-season, but I can foresee this list above changing up a lot, starting with Rori Harmon's placement. And I could easily imagine a Kiki Rice, Leger-Walker, or Olivia Miles on there. But it's always fun to speculate, and it IS probably 90% correct.

Wow. Colorado going from #20 to #5. That's something.
USC cracks into the top 10.
Pac-12 with 5 of the top 10. Incredible.

I agree with SC at #1 and Iowa at #2. I've been really impressed with SC so far.

Absolutely no excuse for UConn to be ranked above NC State right now.
At least voters got it right with Colorado and LSU.

They also got Fl State and Tennessee closer to right.
Just want to add that both Duke and Tennessee played the US National Team and I believe they will end up ranked close to each other (Duke is essentially #30 right now). Of course we'll see what happens when Duke plays real competition. Duke's loss to Colorado in the second round last year isn't looking as bad right about now.

I like Colorado but I don't see them as #3. I'd put Stanford and UConn (even though they have a loss) ahead of them.
