I don't get it- why is Gabby Williams ineligible for the season when other teams' foreign players (like Johannes, for example,) are talked about coming in June?

Because the new Prioritization rules don't apply to players with 0, 1 or 2 Years of Service in the WNBA. Johannes has only played two seasons in the WNBA, so for now is exempt.

Evidently, Gabby has suffered a concussion & will not be able to fly to get back on time. The Storm are seeking clarity from the League, basically stating that inability to fly should not be held against her if she can’t get back in time.

Heard anything on that front, Richyyy?

Williams already played in Game 1 of the French finals after that supposed concussion, which seems like it removes that theoretical workaround. Kevin Pelton updated his article here: https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/37672480/williams-plays-g1-lfb-finals-leaving-wnba-status-limbo

There's still apparently some small hope that they might work something out, but if she plays in Game 2 tomorrow that seems entirely extinguished.
