Usually, when a Leage suspends someone that person isn't allow in the building.

They open, conveniently, with two road games. |

I think Dearica Hamby has a good chance of winning a civil lawsuit for what happen in the workplace against Becky Hammon and the Las Vegas Aces.

That came in a year in which the Aces tied for the best record in the league, won the "Commissioner's Cup" and won the championship.

This is a very mild slap on the wrist. The Aces open on the road with sad sack Seattle and shaky LA so coach Becky will get that home ring ceremony. For a top team like LV, losing that future #1 is peanuts compared to the roster they have put together full of players being paid way less than their market value. Notice the violations mentioned only involved Hamby. I would ask what about the under the table $ for so many others (example: now we know why Riq played for peanuts last year, and Chelsea took multi- yr for tens of thousands less than her worth)? My guess the rest of teams in W are not happy about this result.

Who is the person in the Aces front office who offer Dearica Hamby extra benefits and what is the penalty place on that person?

I got a feeling this is going to start a trickle down effect on other teams as well in the future.

A cynical person might think the W had decided Hammon's punishment before the defending champs were scheduled to start with two road games, the first time that's happened since 2004.

As far as we know, the accusations regarding Hamby specifically are the only thing they've been able to prove. What do you think the penalty should have been for that?

You're not saying anything. What would the opposite of a "slap on the wrist" be, for this offense? Stipulating, again, that you can't penalize them for what you think they did, or what they're accused of, only for what you can prove they did?

“Impermissible player benefits”, so they were found to be trying to get around the salary cap - so they have a smaller cap for next season.

“During the course of the investigation, several individuals raised additional concerns about the conduct of the Aces during the most recent free agency period. The investigation was not able to substantiate any of those additional concerns”
Gimme a break. Just look at how the Aces, both last year and this, have managed to stay under the salary cap by paying almost every significant player tens of thousands less than their market value. If the WNBA had a strong commissioner (this is not a court of law and these commissioners have plenty of power), this would be punished. Now if I were another team, do the same move (get players $ under the table) but just leave no paper trail.

The Aces are just doing what the Sparks used to do under Penny Toler. LA never got punished for it, why should Vegas?
The Players Association is content to look the other way when players get paid less than market value. If they don't care, why should the owners or the league?
In any event, circumvention is the inevitable result of a hard salary cap and guaranteed salaries. That's why the NBA uses a soft cap.

Englebert has exactly as much power as the Board of Governors (read: Adam Silver) allows her to have. Have you considered that they may not want her to have the power to issue harsher penalties?

I hope Dearica Hamby (Pregnant Employee Treatment} sues the pants off Becky Hammon and Mark Davis for practically calling her a liar.

There are 2 separate issues here. (1) Hamby’s treatment as pregnant player and (2) the Aces’ subversion of salary cap. In the WNBA statement, they find that Hamby received “impermissible benefits”. Given that so many other LV players, like Dearica, have been playing for below market salaries, is there anyone out there that thinks Hamby was the only one getting these illegal benefits? Funny how the one player spilling the beans is the only one not currently getting a Mark Davis paycheck.

according to the espn article:
"The league investigated Hamby's claims, as well as allegations of salary cap circumvention that came out shortly thereafter; the league said the investigation was not able to substantiate any of those particular allegations."
so they couldn't substantiate them...but still applied punishments. does this make sense?
