After about a decade since the last triple-double, Jade Melbourne's was the 2nd we've had this season (Cayla George got the first)

Anxiously awaiting news about Steph Talbot's knee after she injured it on the weekend.

Did George somehow manage it with points, rebounds and fouls? Wink

Torn ACL smh.
As a Sparks fan I'm bummed about the news.
Praying for a speedy recovery.

awhom111, Nyara Sabally definitely didn't sign anywhere or play anywhere since being drafted, right? I'm pretty sure she's just been rehabbing, but not 100%.

Not to my knowledge. She is still listed as an assistant coach with Sacramento State so she is presumably doing her job there.

Ah okay, thanks. Always intriguing when these potential re-draft candidates crop up.

Just popping in to say that Euroleague games have resumed today.

This is finally Sloot's debut with Fenerbahce (Stewie, Sabally, Meesseeman, McBride, K. Stokes and Alina Iagupova) at 11AM EST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cStIv0N6Z1w&ab_channel=EuroLeagueWomen

Btw, if you haven't seen Iagupova, please tune in because she is a ridiculous baller! They are playing Valencia whose roster includes Letecia Romero, Alba Torrenz, Marie Gulich, Cierra Burdick and Lauren Cox.

The 2:45PM EST game should be fun: Girona (Sykes, Gardner, Shay Murphy) vs. Mersin (C. Gray, T. Hayes, Q. Hollisworth, D. Bonner, Liz Williams and they are listing JJ but I hadn't seen her in previous games so I'm not sure): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq2cOKEWkgM&ab_channel=EuroLeagueWomen

Please excludes any misspellings!

On second thought, Iagupova may not need to play much today...lol! As expected, Fener is a buzzsaw!

Do you know tie breaker for Avenida, Sopron and Girona?

All 3 could finish in Group B with a 8-6 record.
One has to be eliminated.

I don't have the energy to go searching through all the bylaws for the specific tournament, but usually in FIBA it's head-to-head, or head-to-head-to-head. So first wins in games between the relevant teams, then points difference in those games.

But that's just an educated guess.

D.1.3 and D.1.4 here:
https://www.fiba.basketball/documents/official-basketball-rules/current.pdf

The record between the three is first, then differential, then points scored. If one of the teams comes up on top in this example of three for two spots, then the process starts from the beginning between the two remaining teams for the last spot.

WNBL playoffs start in just under a week.
Looks like more international viewers will be able to tune in.

https://wnbl.basketball/blog/news/cygnett-wnbl-announces-international-broadcast-deal-for-finals/

Quote:
The Cygnett Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) is thrilled to announce a new international broadcast distribution plan for the Finals. From 8 March, the Finals will be broadcast in more than 100 countries, giving basketball fans from around the world an opportunity to enjoy Australia’s elite women’s basketball competition.

As the 2022-23 WNBL season prepares to conclude one of the most competitive regular seasons to date, the international Finals coverage is an exciting opportunity to engage new audiences with the WNBL.

The partnerships with broadcasters ESPN, beIN Sport and Unbeaten will see the WNBL Finals available to watch in the United States, Canada, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America.

In Australia, all Finals games will be available to fans on ESPN, with select games available to stream on 9Now as well. The WNBL fixture is available to reference, here.

Head of the WNBL, Christy Collier-Hill said:

“The WNBL is excited to offer fans around the world the opportunity to watch the best women’s basketball competition in Australia.

“We have some incredibly talented players and teams and are thrilled to showcase them on an international stage. This is a significant milestone for our league, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have on our players, fans and stakeholders.”

The WNBL Finals will feature the top four teams including Townsville Fire (1st), Southside Flyers (2nd) and Melbourne Boomers (3rd). The battle for the fourth position between the Perth Lynx (4th) and Bendigo Spirit (5th) will come down to the results of the final round of the regular season this week.

The Finals format includes two best-of-three semi-finals’ series between 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd. The winners will advance to another best-of-three grand final series.

The Finals action commences on Wednesday 8 March, when fans around the world can tune in to see which team will be crowned WNBL Champions.

All of the regular season games(after the first round) have been on the FIBA You Tube channel, for International fans. I hope thats what they continue to do. I can get the games on 9 Now and a VPN, but the games on ESPN/AU I couldnt get, in the begining of the year.

Is the format 2 games at Top seeds, then game 3 at lower seed?

Thanks
