Should have traded Miller on draft night for a chance to get both Clark and Brink:/.

I'm sure Dallas would have been willing to acquire another 2023 pick

did you think she was actually going to say, "Yes, our goal this season is to suck like an Electrolux and hoard lottery balls like a squirrel going after acorns"?

good point, but the last 3-5 games of theirs kinda proves her point. if not for the dumb CHI and IND losses, they're a .500 team which puts them in 7-8 place.

I think there is a long list of teams that should make a trade for J. Lloyd...Minnesota is one of them...Now, of course, Seattle would have to be open to trading Loyd, and under any trade scenario, Loyd would need to sign an extension as part of the trade agreement....I'd also wait till the last moment right before the trade deadline to make the trade with the hopes that Minny misses the playoffs and have a crack at a lottery pick. The Lynx play 28 of their 40 games before the trade deadline.

Proposed trade:

Miller & Powers for Loyd

Miller has upside, but Minny would be getting back a top 15 player to pair with Collier and have a shot at getting a lottery pk if things went right (wrong) for them (Clark, Brink, Reese, Edwards)

https://lynx.wnba.com/news/minnesota-lynx-injury-update-062723/

Quote:
The Minnesota Lynx today announced the following injury updates on guard Tiffany Mitchell, guard Aerial Powers and forward Jessica Shepard.

Mitchell must be the newest injury that permits the Lynx a hardship signing.

Quote:
A surgical consultation conducted by hand surgeon Sanjeev Kakar, MD, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester confirmed that Mitchell has a left wrist sprain. It will be treated non-operatively. She will be re-evaluated in the following weeks and further updates will be issued when available.

Quote:
Powers, who suffered a left ankle sprain at practice on June 14, continues her rehabilitation and will be re-evaluated in the following weeks with updates to follow.

Quote:
Shepard, who has been out since June 16 with a non-covid illness, is progressing as expected and will continue to be re-evaluated regularly with updates to follow.

They are sure being more delicate with all these non-operative injuries and illnesses this season.

At least it appears that Diamond Miller is off the injury report.

Here is how Dantas is doing at AmeriCup. Seems pretty competent.
If the Lynx decide they aren’t really tanking, is there any way Dantas could return in some form? Juhász seems good enough to keep around. Milic?

I'm sure I've missed them in the gameday posts, but has there been more info regarding Shepard's likelihood of returning to action soon?

Shout out to Dorka! Remember that time Geno said she'd be a Top-5 pick and nobody listened? I'll never understand passing on a 6'5" player with her skill set.

I said from the start that the wrong UConn player was drafted first and that people were sleeping on Dorka. Unfortunately, Lopez-Senechal hasn't had the opportunity to try and prove me wrong yet. But Dorka is above and beyond what I expected. I did not think she would be able to hold her own physically against the biggest of the WNBA bigs, at least not to the level she has done so far. Nobody is pushing Droka around!

The Lynx rookies have been awesome. That plus Napheesa is a great nucleus. They're moving in the right direction. More Huskies, please! Smile

The announcer said during the Sky game that the Minnesota Lynx are the second WNBA team to start out 0-6 and make the playoffs. But he didn't say who the first was.

Well we know who will have the answer - our resident WNBA stats and everything else historian - pilight!!! Very Happy I would love to see his recordkeeping.

Yeah, I know we can just go to his website for the compilations. As the historian at my church for the past 15 years, I've got so many documents from which I can extract stuff and resources I use regularly to update, revise and correct. Just curious like that.

pilight, thank you for your service! Cool

Detroit Shock started 0-10 and then won the ship.

That wasn't the same year. The Shock started 0-10 in 2002 then won it all in 2003.

Don’t quote me but I believe it was LA in 2015.

That's correct! They started 0-7 before stumbling into the playoffs at 14-20. Candace Parker missed most of the season, Nneka Ogwumike missed 10 games, Kristi Toliver missed six. They were all back for the playoffs, fooling people into thinking they were dangerous, but the Lynx stuffed them in the first round.
