First returns of fan voting

The Aces fans are making their voices heard Laughing love to see it. Not only is Aj'a the overall vote leader, Plum and Young are leading the votes at guard. When was the last time Bird or Taurasi was not among the top two at guard.

It'll be pretty sad if few to no Sky players end up on the final roster since Skytown is hosting the thing! Only see Slooty and Kah on this list...

Embarassed

Long day at work. And I still have a mental block...still not 100% sold on her, though I begrudgingly credited her as the difference-maker for us last year. My bad! Gotta get used to having our players that high on the list - I totally missed her.

From looking at their list, I think you can vote for anyone wo's actually on an active roster. So even hardships like Jennie Simms or Elissa Cunane are available as options, but not Collier because she's been on the Pregnancy/Childbirth list since the start of the season. Griner, technically, is still on the active roster.

If Wilson, Jones and Fowles end up on the same squad, who plays the 3?

Fowles probably won't actually play, right? She'd still be injured.

Fun to see Young, Plum and Ionescu making their first game as starters. This season really does seem like we finally have a new crop of guards taking over.

I wouldn't be me if I didn't note that all three of them were No. 1 picks. All but two of the starters were. Nothing is more important in this league than getting No. 1 picks.

Skylar Diggins ranking is interesting. Among guards she's #3 in fan voting, #4 in media rank, and #14 by players.

Hers stood out to me right away for that 14 from her peers especially when she’s been the best Mercury player

Will a list that goes past the Top 10 ever be released to the public?

What about Delle Donne among the front court players: 4th by fans, 12th by media, 20th by players.

Candace is similar but less exaggerated: 3rd by fans, 7th by media, 12 by players.

Among guards, Bird is 3rd by fans, but 9th by media and 7th by players.

And for an example of harshness by the fans, Arike is 14th by the fans, but 4th by both media and players.

This is why I asked whether a more complete listing will ever be released: I am very interested in knowing who the #10 Player-ranked backcourt player and the #6, 8 and 10 Player-ranked frontcourt players are, who didn't make the overall Top 10.

All of this, even though they’ll never release that list.

I wanna know the sample size for the players vote. Was a ballot given to every player in the league, was it a blue ribbon panel? Those player votes always get a side eye from me. I remember a few years ago when the “players” voted Candace as the most overrated player in the league Shocked

I’m getting big hater vibes from some of these peers. Cool

Each player receives a ballot. They don't necessarily all vote, but they all receive one.

Nobody seems to be talking about it, but did Taurasi withdraw from All Star consideration? It would warm my cockles to see her get disrespected to this level, similar to Diggins as a reserve. Diggins could use a little humbling, although her reaction is more likely angry tweets about something or other.

Stunning to see Taurasi off this list.

Also how in the world is Kelsey Mitchell left off?

Three AS nods for the class of 2013 and one for 2002 move them to a tie for 4th most ever behind 1999, 2001, and 2004. 2002 is done but I would expect 2013 to pass 2004 next season (they're one behind). They're 10 behind 2001. That's a lot to make up for a class edging into their mid-30's with arguably their best player indefinitely imprisoned in a foreign county, but I wouldn't say it's impossible. They're 37 behind 1999. I would say that's impossible even if Griner was here and playing at a high level.

Kelsey Mitchell definitely should’ve been on the list, especially in place of Copper. I would have also included Nalyssa Smith and Alisha Gray ahead of her as well.
