Wow, i've never paid attention to Kansas Women's hoops but Hallman and Kemp are flat out good players. Also, the crowd looks nice. Its nice to see such a big crowd at a womens game for a college that has a mens team that is very popular. But Kemp and Hallman are very good and will be good draft picks.
Oh and Tiffany Jackson looks like shes on a mission tonight. Why cant she play like this every night?

According to an IM I just received, Kansas has a 61-54 lead with 5:10 left. |

Good for Kansas! I was wondering how they'd do in Big 12 play.

I saw only the second half. Texas stepped up its defense but got caught for overaggressive behavior (offensive fouls) again and again at the other end: I liked most of the calls-- the announcers argued (with each other) about them.
Texas have obviously superior athletes. Once KU's three-pointers stopped falling, I really thought that Texas was going to come back.
But I like this KU team, and I like Hendrickson. (Gopher fans will remember KU from last year, when they took a serious first-half lead in the Barn, but couldn't hold it.)

Just for silliness I looked up KU's three point shooting for the season. Going into this game they shot 40% from three. In this game they shot ------ 40% from three. I understand what you mean though. They shot a high % in the first half and then cooled down in the second.

Baylor-Texas rivalry is a good one. (Texas was one of only three schools who beat Baylor last year.) The schools are only 90 miles apart, and (in ordinary years) lots of fans travel for this road game (both ways). This one will be televised and with the Longhorns playing so poorly, there might not be many Texas-exes making the drive up I-35.
If Texas pulls off the upset, they'll stay in the polls--and will deserve to be there.

Great game tonight for KU. Texas came out aggressive on defense and that ended up hurting them foul-wise, they never really seemed to get into any kind of rhythm. I expected Tiffany Jackson to dominate, but she seemed a bit out of control at times and KU was able to put several bodies on her because there was no one on the outside hitting their shots. The one stat that stood out for me was assists (don't recall the exact numbers but KU had what seemed like double Texas). Texas is a BIG team with lots of tall players and before the game, some friends and I were talking rebounds...but Texas never really dominated on the glass.
I think it comes down to what someone else mentioned (here or on the Big 12 board): senior leadership. KU has three seniors who came out unafraid, weren't intimidated, and played with lots of confidence against a younger UT team and it showed. Crystal Kemp is having a monster year and I'm glad she was able to show it against a tougher team. Girl is for real. KU's playing Bonnie-ball and bringing people to the game. It's been a great turn around (speaking of turn around, here is an interesting article that discusses a pivot point in KU's recent history by discussing some of the troubled past http://www.kusports.com/news/woodling/story/116731)
Finally, spotted in the stands: Awesome Kansas Gov Kathleen Sebelius and our friend Michelle Voepel.

The Othercats are not doing badly. They're 10-1, albeit against a weak non-con schedule.

I think Mechelle covers Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri to some degree since they are all "relatively" in the Kansas City Area.......
but, someone correct me if I'm wrong. I've read some Kansas articles from Mechelle though.
Kansas was originally scheduled to be in a tournament in New Orleans until Katrina hit and they moved the tourney to Lawrence......still, that's only two away games at best and one of those would be "neutral".

Let's not forget that Kansas hired Lew Perkins as AD from UConn a few years ago. Lew puts a significance on a quality women's team as well as men's so I think there is a good chance that Kansas will continue to blossom as the funding continues to be there.
