no tea, no sha— uhh, but anyway, are the Lynx not a bit of a hapless bunch themselves in recent days with how many absences y’all have had? unless one thinks the Lynx can contend this year, it’s not a bad year to take on such a project – unless the real fear is that Reeve screws their development up.

| And you don't draft for need at #2, outside of a monumentally dreadful draft class. You just take whoever you think is the best player available. It's not like the Lynx are winning a title this year if they can just fill that one last hole. And beyond this season they've got all of three people currently under contract. You take a building block for those years, not someone who might get three extra minutes per game in 2023 because you're thin there. |

I'm guessing someone (hometown WNBA team?) has told a Horston advisor that she'll be a lottery pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft

Well, yeah. Players have 10 days before the draft, which is April 10th. That means they have until Friday unless they're still playing in a postseason tournament, in which case the 48 hour rule comes into play.

Well, yeah. Players have 10 days before the draft, which is April 10th. That means they have until Friday unless they're still playing in a postseason tournament, in which case the 48 hour rule comes into play. |
They changed that a bit. More paperwork due to the Covid-year rule so they give themselves more time. The deadline was March 27th unless you were still playing, hence the list coming out now. If you were in the Elite 8 or anything else still going, you get 48 hours from your last game. |

Noticing that a lot of current W players are posting “advice” publicly to college seniors to take that 5th year. Cloud and DeShields come to mind.
You have to wonder if Miller and Boston stay another year and that would be mind blowing for the 23 draft. Cathy & Co. would be none too pleased…

Boston specifically has to be in the category of making more $$$ if she stays for a 5th year at SC.

She might be making more in NIL than a first-year WNBA salary, but she might not be eclipsing WNBA+whatever Cukurova/Avenida/Schio/Whoever would pay her for the rest of that year. Also, if ClayK were here he'd point out that potentially the year of earnings you're actually losing is the higher one at the end of your career, rather than the low one at the start. You're going to have those four cheap WNBA seasons one way or another, whenever they start. You're shortening the period where you can earn big money by a year by turning pro a year later.
The best reasoning to stay in school is still "I like it in school, don't need the wage, and don't want to start the pro grind yet". |

| Like I've said before, if I had been offered a gob of money to leave school and do something I loved and was really good at when I was 21, I'm sure I would have taken it. If someone came to me today and offered me the same thing or a chance to be a 22 year old college kid again, I would not hesitate at all to choose the latter. No amount of money is worth as much as a year as a carefree 22 year old college kid.

| boston, or anyone, can tear their ACL over the summer and never be the same player... everything is a gamble, but an education/degree is a 'sure bet'

In most cases here we're talking about 4yrs vs 5, though. So you'd hope that most of them have at least one degree under their belts already. |

How is that possible? I thought if you declared for the draft you renounced any remaining college eligibility?

As long as they don't sign with an agent they have until a certain date to withdraw.

Why do people only say that regarding players who have eligibility left, but that is never said about players who don't have eligibility but haven't completed their degree requirements.
