Gonna be interesting to see how much GB/Germany care about 2nd vs 3rd in the group. It's not just the supposedly easier crossover playoff, but if I've worked it out right then 2nd place keeps you away from Belgium in the quarters (assuming you win the playoff). So I'd care quite a bit. But Fiebich looks semi-healthy, so they might rest her again.

As the first game of the day at that site, they will not have an idea on Turkey's health, which could also make a difference as Hungary at full strength is a tougher matchup. The fun group to untangle is A.

By the way, assuming France are part of the top-6, they won't bother to play that final classification game to decide 5th/6th, right? Because they'd have the teams for the Olympic qualifiers already. I'm sure I read that somewhere, but there's no "if necessary" qualifier listed anywhere I can see.

I've been there! Went to the Azores many years ago and one of the first things I did was catch a Portuguese women's basketball league match. Not a strong league by any stretch of the imagination but a lovely place to live for a while as you're starting out your pro career.

I have not read about that either way. Seems like if they assemble a staff and sell tickets for the game, it would be hard to cancel on Thursday. I guess the game could have seeding pot implications for Olympic qualifiers so it might be worth keeping on that basis.

Surely this is the year for Alba Torrens, Connecticut?

The 5 might be a bit of a stretch even for her.

There's talent there. Doesn't feel like a particularly natural point guard for someone they'd clearly like to play the position, but she has offensive skills. Big and long for a guard too, especially compared to the likes of Bernies or Fauthoux.
