okay, i'm still gathering my thoughts . . . this is certain to linger with me for several days. but my first thought is, poor tasha pointer. i knew she copped a major 'tude when she was picked so late in the draft, and that seemed to seal her fate (must've been hard running up and down the court with that big chip on her shoulder). but this program contradicted my impression that she was also a bit too full of herself. i was surprised to learn what a team player she was at rutgers and how much stringer thought of her.

...truly great, once in a great while television is raised to "art", this was one of those times. Wasn't the music terrific?...loved the Staples singers at the end! |

yes! stever! i thought it was just me, but the music, the editing . . . i was at that draft and saw pointer's reaction firsthand, and the way he cut together renee brown naming player after player, mixed with burke's and meyers' remarks on-air, really captured it. then the big game when they beat notre dame, mixing his footage with the tv footage - brilliant. yeah, i thought it was just me, but it was really, REALLY well done. if that had been an hour-long documentary, i'd have wanted more. at two hours, it didn't feel too long or drawn out. (and that's pretty tough to pull off - a two-hour documentary that doesn't get boring.) the editing was excellent. the music, perfect, especially when pointer was talking about believing they'd beat notre dame and it started out like a dirge, then picked up as their game did. they need to set this guy loose on the w. (maybe he's already doing it, since this one took four years to see its debut.) i loved summitt talking to stringer about shopping at macys!
i gotta say, tho, stringer is still something of a mystery to me. an amazing woman, no doubt, but i'm confounded by what's really going on inside of her.

here's a look at linda miles now. oops, i mean shaniqua!

2003 - 2004: Linda Miles is assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, where she earns herself a reputation for her bad attitude..
November 12, 2004: Linda Miles is released from her WWE developmental contract..
that last item . . . is that a good or bad thing? was she released because she's now a full-fledged pro wrestler, or was she released because she just can't rein in her apparent shortcoming? i'm really fascinated by this particular player because of the way it was made clear in the film that she had disciplinary issues, yet we never got the complete story (stringer, to her credit, wasn't talking). i wonder how good she could've been without that baggage.

Shaniqua was recently released by Ohio Valley Wrestling, which is a WWE developmental group. There are rumors that she might be headed to TNA, a rival organization.

It's not a good thing. She reportedly had attitude problems, and after getting sent down to OVW she missed several training sessions and even a few taping sessions.

I followed Shaniqua because she was a WCBB player. Otherwise I don't follow it much. I liked it when I was in junior high...

Went to the Suns game last night (8:30 local start for ESPN).
Taped West Wing at 8:00. The movie played at 8:30 and again at 11:30.
A poster to GotNext says it will replay at 3:00 am Saturday on local PBS channel 8, KAET-TV. Planning to tape it then.
Glad to hear the positive reviews.
