    Seattle! Exclamation Shocked

Quote:
SEATTLE - The WNBA Champion Seattle Storm today re-signed 5-8 guard Betty Lennox, the 2004 WNBA Finals MVP, to a contract, Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Anne Donovan announced.
Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lennox was the only rookie chosen by coaches for the 2000 WNBA All-Star Game and was the only rookie selected to the 2000 All-WNBA Second Team. She was selected as the 2000 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

I guess now there's an extra reason to refer to Betty as 'B-Money'... Razz

She wasn't really sought after by other teams.

It will be interesting to see if she is more consistent during the regular season this year. She certainly showed up for the Finals, and is a great rebounding guard.

I find it interesting all this activity by Seattle right after Sam/Tully/KV signings.

Is it a case of not letting anyone else get away, a case of having the market dictate the direction to go with these players, or "okay, now we have the money to sign these two and go get xxxx". Confused

Face it, even with the Bibby signing, Seattle still needs another strong guard. their roster is filling up with the Burse and Lennox signings...they have LJ, Bird, Lennox, Thompson, Burse, Frierson with Barnes and Greco probably being signed. The KV deal is an interesting wrinkle in that they probably have the money, but may not want the three year part of that contract. If no other teams were looking at Lennox, her pay may not have gone up as significantly, so they have more money than they thought they would have at the beginning.

Heck, Edwards might still find her way onto that team at this point. I would like to see Nicki McCray get a look at by the Storm. I don't see any major trades for them as they have no fodder left that they would be willing to give up.
