No matter who you like, we can all agree on one thing:

Any game in which June Courteau is reffing will be a badly called, totally screwed up mess.

and all a fan can do is pray that the shit falls on the side you want it to.

I agree..is that possible that the only people who recognize that she is a horrible ref are the fans? the fans, regardless of which team they are pulling for?

Courteau seemed to be in the middle of the most obvious fuck-ups, including the false report of the double T.

Seriously, though. June Courteau is made of FAIL.

If it's that frustrating for us, imagine how frustrating it is for the players.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

That would explain her need to place herself in the middle of the action unnecessarily Razz

I have been really enjoying this series. I dislike the refs attempts to ruin it. Confused

I am with you. I hope anyone watching the WNBA for the first time is not turned off by the entirely incompetent reffing.

I do not have a dog in this fight and found my emotions switching back and forth with the momentum and with who was getting more screwed by the refs. Nearly got myself a bad whiplash injury, as you can understand. Wink

Just unbelievable. The call on DT and KD was probably the worst, but only because it was so awful. The competition for worst call was darn fierce.

June made the worst call I've even seen in a basketball game..ever...nine years later I still remember it..it was THAT bad.

I'm rooting for Catch to accidently run her over..

Funny you should bring that up. Went for a walk to vent after this 'ref's rule the world' game 3 fiasco only to run into a retired neighbor who watched game two and game three....first WNBA games he watched EVER.

And the first words out of his mouth were, "What's up with the horrible reffing in these games? Do the refs think it is about them.....?" and went on to mention the 'bun hits the boobs' call (his phrase, not mine).

But essentially thought the refs didn't call anything consistent, making the game entirely confusing for the players and what they could expect......and not to mention the fans of both teams....

Amen SuziQ!!!!

I have always thought June Courteau was one of the worst refs in the NCAA and the W. Every time she officiated a game in Atlanta, I made a point to speak to her and heckle her before the game started. She always jokes around, but she knows she is bad. She even made a comment once that she wondered how long we would "cordially" speak to her once she started officiating the game. We all laughed and said she was right because she was mostly going to be the one screwing up the game.

She definitely needs to retire...IMO.

what gets me, is that no matter how much the fans protest, and no matter how much the players and coaches (in private) protest, this woman still has a job in this league. She is brutal... the game has passed her by.

no official should insert themselves in decisions in critical moments the way she does....let the players determine the winner... it's embarrassing and downright shameful.

further evidence that NO ONE in the WNBA league office, actually KNOWS the game of basketball.

I wonder where June banks? I could go to Wells Fargo tomorrow and open a retirment account in her name. With all her haters making a nominal contribution, she should be able to live comfortably for quite some time. Laughing

How can the league fix a problem when they don't even acknowledge that one exists?

What the WNBA needs is referees who work the WNBA season and the WNBA season only. June, like a lot of other referees are overworked and need to concentrate on one level of basketball or the other. One month after the WNBA season is over, June goes back to the NCAA until the second week of April. Six weeks after that, she's back to the WNBA. Time to end the nonsense and get dedicated refrees for the league where they can take the off-season to sharpen their skills rather than having to backtrack to the level of the NCAA.
