That was the first shot she hit this half. I wouldn't call that showing up.

More then recent games, and it was the shot that Vols needed. Aggies really had a shot t this, and not because CP was hurt, but they should have taken advantage of that and put the dagger in then.

Or, depending on your perspective, way to let your wounded opponent off the hook, A&M.

Blair has done a great job to get them to this point. But can he recruit the scorers to A&M that he needs to get further? Will he ever be able to recruit the scorers needed to beat Tennessee and other teams of that caliber? Or has he taken A&M as far as it can go?

Every interview I have seen her done has been good. She is so self-less. She really has the team concept down in the interview. I think she is very mature and she will do well in the WNBA when she goes to a team where she isnt the "star"

That was one hell of a gutty performance from Candace Parker and the rest of the Lady Vols.

That 3 from Hornbuckle brought me to my feet shouting "YES!"

Now comes getting both rested and healed as well as preparing for LSU.

GO LADY VOLS!

YEAH, YEAH, YEAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very Happy

Oh my goodness Shocked

While I was sorta holding my breath at the end there, I knew they were gonna do it.

"I would do anything for my team, and it was my honor," says Parker afterward.

Indeed.

She is a hell of a tough player - what guts. Makes me admire her even more.

Tenn was clearly the better team, even without Parker. Texas A&M has come a long way since I saw them in rounds 1 and 2 last year, but they had too many brain farts and bricks at the end. The better team won.

On to TAMPA!!!!

Very Happy

I have no idea how we won that game. None. That was the wierdest, strangest game I've seen in a long time.

This reminds me of the look on Todd Helton's face last year when the Rockies won the tiebreaker game to get in last year's playoffs. Just...I'm stunned.

Congrats to A&M...I think a lot of people underestimated them, and their defense was incredible. That team will be even more dangerous next year if they don't lose too many to graduation.

Survive and advance...but this is the first time moving on has felt this weird since beating North Carolina in Nashville in the late 90's.

Wow.

That was weird, don't know what happened to the Aggies; they had the skill, but I think the Vols had the edge in experience. I'm happy for you jimmy, but I'd l some other champions, there are hardly more college teams with championships then there are WNBA teams, as a matter of fact if you count the teams that are gone they just might be even.

Meanwhile Rutgers is making UConn sweat Twisted Evil

While admire Candace's humbleness in the interview and giving her teammates praise, as she always does, I will certainly disagree with her saying she couldn't have done it without them. I mean it was almost like she did it in spite of them. Seven freakin' turnovers Bobbitt! Please. Alexis Hornbuckle, thank you for the clutch 3, but you haven't been a scoring threat since the last time you left that Oklahoma City arena and won the MVP award for the McDonalds AA game. Offensively, Hornbuckle has been a major disappointment. The rest of her game is solid though. Angie Bjorkland, if you're not making shots, which YOU ARE NOT, you are a liability. At least when Spencer couldn't hit the barn she brought size at 6'3.

Anyway, congrats Parker on a very, very gutsy win. I don't expect to see you in the championship game. You can't literally continue to shoulder the load at this time of year.

The injury to CP3 puts a different spin on things. At least we have some drama as the Lady Vols try to repeat. Very Happy Can the talented Candace come back against Sylvia and LSU?

For some reason my right shoulder is aching. Hmmm. Wrong side!

Anyway, the team held A&M and didn't let them blow the game open while Candace was out. Granted, they should've picked up ground because they're all awesome players to be at Tennessee, but to at least hold on was big enough.

Someone's gotta step up in the F4. Parker can't have half our points if we win a championship unless we're scoring 80.

I believe she can. Basketball is 75 percent mental and 25 percent skills. CP3 wants it bad, and five days is a long time.

Umm, Candace? If I ever coached her and I saw her walk down the court, I would bench her ass down. Get down to the court. You should be there before the point guard (or whoever has the ball) is going to start a play.

Let's try an experiment:

Go and find a car wash. The kind with the big rotating brushes.
Got one? OK... fire it up.
Now, go through it. Don't use a car.
Now try and run up the court.

That was a gutsy performance by Parker.
A lot of players wouldn't have been out there playing.
Don't rule Tennessee out just yet.
Parker and the Vols have been here before, and so has Queen Pat.
They all know what they're gonna have to do.

IMO, they'll all be ready to rumble.

Quote:
Connecticut and Tennessee no longer play one another. The greatest rivalry in women's college basketball, the game that is to women's hoops what the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue is to the casual, or non-sports fan, no longer exists — at least not during the regular season.

The Huskies and Lady Vols can only possibly meet once this year ... in the national championship game. And they most likely will.

When Connecticut and Tennessee do meet in Tampa, it will be the most dramatic and tense battle in the two programs' shared history. All because of what has transpired in the past year.
