Iluvacc, I'm not sure if Angel would've fit in with the Terps with that front line of Coleman, Harper, and Langhorne. Louisville was probably the best option for her.

I agree. She's a great example of taking advantage of the opportunity.

Congrats to UNC and all, but I don't think they deserved to win that game. Great effort by Louisville.

The officials were horrible, and pretty obviously biased towards one team.

However, Louiville was up by 18, and the fact that it even got close enough for the refs to affect it means that they really didn't "deserve" to win.

Look at it this way, Shades. Who around the WNBA takes Carolyn Peck seriously? Wink

Louisville played 5 on 8 the entire second half. They didn't get one call in that second half.

Oh, and I really don't know why everyone's picking UNC to win the natty. They didn't beat a mediocre Bucknell team by nearly as much as they should've and they let a stagnant, turnover-prone Georgia team hang around with them most of the game. And don't get me started on their first half play in todays game.

Most of Hatchell's teams peak well before March. I think we're seeing that again this season.

Yes. But for a team that prides itself on it's ability to run and score big numbers, they shouldn't be happy with a Tortoise comparison.

I am not a fan of either team, but talk about inconsistency from the refs. Than the refs decided which team they were pulling for. And I rarely complain about refs, but this was way too much.

We aren't nervous in fact..I was torn over who I wanted to win..

Louisville is in the Big East..but let's face it, UNC has a much better shot at beating Tenn.. Very Happy

Fiesty game...Walz never stops going does he? He yaps after every call Rolling Eyes ...but I think it affects his players, they play with alot of energy, especially McCoughtry. Wow, does she have a game face or what?...

Pringle is VERY good, and I love her demeanor. She is a quiet assassin. Same with McCants, very poised and very talented.

Larkins though...PSYCHOOOOOO Shocked

Bingham & McCoughtry were the truth in this game. They played their hearts out, too bad they lost.

.. This was probably mentioned sumtime this season already but, why isn't Alex Miller playing? or.. does she play a few minutes here and there...?

I didn't see this game, but just saw the 44-10 discrepancy in free throw attempts. Was it justified? Or did Louisville get fvcked over by the refs?

What's UNC's recruiting class like for next season?

Adding Miller back could be useful cus frankly Lucas is a yawner. Potential, sure, but really makes dumb mistakes and tries to push sometimes when it just isn't the time, taking on teams all on her own. When she stays settled and within the offense she finds much more success.

Then again, it's not like Miller was setting the world ablaze last year or before the injury.

AFAIK, UNC has four players in their 2008 class:

6-1 F Laura Broomfield
5-11 G Candace Wood
5-4 PG Shela White
6-5 F/C Chay Shegog

Shegog and White are McDonalds All-Americans, though White's inclusion is probably a bit more political. Wood probably should've been a McDonalds AA, but that's just because I've seen her play and think highly of bball players from Charlotte.

With Miller back next year, UNC has four players who will look to compete for time at the PG position. My guess is that the starting position will be up for grabs--and competition is a great thing.

Lucas can be maddening because she is better than (athletically, creatively, more aggressive) and worse than (decision-making, confidence, poise) DeGraffenreid at the same time. If she could work on being a smarter basketball player, Lucas could become UNC's next great player.

I agree regarding Lucas because she is in a place physically that neither Latta or Degraffenreid would ever even be capable of geting to. On the same token, CD did appear pretty cool and collected hitting big shots against Louisville while Lucas looked like a disaster.

I can count at least three times that Lucas "made her mistakes going fast" as the announcers and Sylvia Hatchell would love, but it's more than just making the mistakes fast, she made them alone. She pushed tempo without numbers, penetrated to deep into the lane, and makes passes her teammates just have no business expecting. This results in bad shots with no one in position to rebound - a key for UNC, offensive fouls, and turnovers. Still, Lucas has a breakdown ability and I think will progress to be a player who can really create her own shot effectively. There is potential, she needs to foul with some promise and progression.
