Boyle is a good coach who has turned around the program.
It is very very difficult to remain on top and keep a Top 25 program year in year out. Since I have been followin womens bb (1990) there is only one team other than UConn and Tenn to win the title more than once. The best thing that can happen to womens basketball is for Geno and Pat to retire. Men's bb was moribund and unattractive during UCLA's ten year run. But as soon as other teams got a piece of the pie interest soared.
If UConn and Tenn play for the title Ill do something exciting like darn my socks.

PS Just when we get rid of Paker we get no releif as ESPN gears up to let us hear nothing other than Moore and Donne. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Since both Pat and Geno are only in their mid 50s, I don't think either will be hanging 'em up anytime soon.

I don't see either program doing a nosedive after they retire...

I don't think they should retire, but I do see other coaches and teams working hard to get to their level.

I'm sure neither program will nosedive but to replace Geno and Pat will be next to impossible. Look at UCLA. It is hard to bring in individuals that can create those quantities of wins on any level.

Umm No, La Tech isn't a mid-major.

Really? I think a lot of people would disagree. After all, they're in the WAC.

Who cares if they are in the WAC. There are certain schools that are playing 2-3 levels above their conferences.

They weren't one 10 years ago, but today they are.

Louisiana Tech is irrelevant and has been for the past two years. It's a shame, but it's true. Take a look at how they've done the past two years. Tennessee is dropping them from their schedule.

Example: They lost to Louisiana-Monroe by 21 points.

As I said, many people here will disagree with you about La Tech, and I'm confident I can say the same about ODU and UCSB, and even the UCSB fans are likely to agree. More to the point, if you're going to treat these schools as majors, it makes no sense to treat GWU as a mid-major. GWU has been to the tournament six straight years, as both a conference champion and an at large entry and is going to its second straight sweet 16 (which is more than 9 of the other teams in this year's Sweet 16 can say). ODU, of course, has been to the tournament for umpteen straight years, but this is the first time since 2002 that the Lady Monarchs have gotten out of the first round, while GWU has done that the last 3 years. As was mentioned above, La Tech has been out of the tournament completely in recent years, and UCSB's appearance this year was the first one since 2005.

Louisiana Tech after Cheryl Ford- the graduation of whom was Budke's cue to hie him hence to a major conference- is a mid-major. Were they even serious contenders in the WAC this year?

They were 9-7 in the WAC, 18-12 overall, with only one win against the top 150 in RPI (at home against #80 New Mexico State).

Not to nitpick, but they actually only were 16-15 overall. Even worse.
