The Big Ten computer did Purdue a few favors:

Don't have to go to Wisconsin
Both games against MSU are in the second half of the conference season, which is good for a young Purdue team
and Both games against OSU are in the second half of the conference season.

This gives Purdue a lot of time to develop and build team chemistry before facing its stiffest challenges in conference.
