Erin Batth now at Univ. of Virginia

Erin Batth has just been named the Director of Basketball Operations at the Univ. of Virginia.

Batth, a graduate from Clemson University, was drafted in the WNBA by the now-defunct Cleveland Rockers but was later waived during the preseason training camp. She also had a tryout with the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2004, but was waived again. She also played two seasons in a professional league in Greece.

In recent years, she had been working in the front office for the Sacramento Monarchs, and had a tryout with them earlier this year before being cut during training camp.

Personally, I wonder if Monarchs Coach Jenny Boucek had any involvement in Batth being hired, considering that she went to UVa, along with DeMya Walker.

Anyhow, congrats to Erin!

Might not have been the sole reason why Batth got the job, but it sure helped to have those connections. Plus, it doesn't hurt that she was a All-ACC post player back in her playing days.

And the last ACC caliber post player Clemson had, for that matter.
