Pat Summitt should love the number 7. I posted this on Stormfans, but I'll put it here, too.

Lady Vols' first Final Four: 1977
First national championship: 1987
Championship number 5: 1997
Championship number 7: April 3...month 4 plus day 3 equals 7; also, the year 2007.
If you spell Summitt right, there are 7 letters.
Before she was married, she was Pat Head: 7 letters.

This year's only graduating starter's last name has 7 letters, and the star player's first name has 7 letters.

Actually, no, I didn't. On the back of the Knoxville News-Sentinel's sports page is a full page thing with the Lady Vols team picture on it. At the bottom, it has all the championship years, three of which end with a 7. Since this is championship #7, that made me want to do some research.

Oh...she got win #880 in 2005...2+0+0+5=7. Wink

I am not a Tennessee fan, but I truly love the obvious joy you exude from the title...the kind where it doesn't matter what is in print or any connotation toward your team because it is so much fun to read, reference and hang on to.

BTW...With a name like Pat Head Laughing you would have to grow up tough. Summitt was a huge upgrade.

And TN had 34 wins this year - which added together equals 7!

Temmessee (and everyone else) had to play 7 games in the tourney:

64 (65) = 2^6
32 = 2^5
16 = 2^4
8 = 2^3
4 = 2^2
2 = 2^1
1 = 2^0 (don't forget about the 0 power)

I kinda wanted the LVs to win with 55 points...

Oh and while we are talking numbers - if you take the LVs final record for this year - 34-3 and add them together 3 + 4 + 3 you get 10. Wooden has 10 and Pat needs 3 to catch him - what is 10-3? SEVEN! OK. Yes I am loopy over this win... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
