Think St Pat can't catch The Wizard? Consider: When Wooden was the age Summitt is now he had only one national championship.

Call me back when Pat gets nine in ten years.

That said, she'll overtake him.

But not until then. Wooden is the GOAT for right now.

She already is the best coach of all time. No further proof needed.

Didn't someone point out on this board recently that no WBB coach over the age of 50 had ever won a national championship?

I think that just changed... Very Happy

Has Pat Summit won 10 national championships in a twelve year period, including seven in a row during such a time span, like John Wooden did? No.

So let's not get silly and claim anyone other than the Wizzard of Westwood is the greatest college basketball coach of all time. To do so would only embrass Pat Summit.

I love John Wooden and think he is a great and honorable man. However, his records are slightly tarnished by Sam Gilbert who was the man behind the scenes that took care of the UCLA athletes. I know it was a different era but in this era.... there is no one in Tennessee taking care of the female athletes behind the scenes.

Pat has coached for 33 seasons. Has coached an Olympic team. Has more wins than any man or woman. Has been to the final four more often than any other team. Has produced a shitload of All-Americans and pro players. Has written books. Grows and evolves with each year and isn't afraid to admit when she's wrong.

She's been a pioneer in the women's game. When she first started, nobody came to games. Now the dome in Knoxville is packed with thousands and thousands of people. She has made women's basketball an institution there. She's the first million dollar women's coach.

To me, she is the greatest. No question.

Yep! She is probably the greastest coach ever (it's just all opinion though -- don't get too worked up about it)

Hey, remember when C. Viv said it was RU's "destiny," if that was the case. then it's eerily funny that Pat's last name is "Summit(t)" Laughing She's reached it yet again!! Very Happy
