WBCA NJCAA POY Dominic Seals (Texas Tech signee) and South Plains College are in the same conference as Odessa College. Both were ranked as the top Juco Div I team at various time this season.

SPC won a preconference tournament game over OC. The two split the regular season games. OC won the regional tournament game to tie the record between the two teams this season at 2-2. The only two games either team lost all season.

If the NJCAA tournament would take at-large teams, SPC and OC may very well have played for the championship. As it turns out OC's toughest competion was not at nationals in Salina or regionals in Tyler but a few miles up the road in conference.
