Very glad she's staying in the Big Ten!

I had a feeling she would stay with MSU, but a contract for 5 years means nothing. At the beginning of her 5 year deal with Maine she still jumped ship to MSU. I hoep she stays at MSU, but sometimes contracts can easily be bought.

I'm glad to hear this. As others have said, it doesn't mean she'll stay forever, but it's still good that she'll be there a while longer.

So much for all those internet rumors, message board gossipers and bloggers that had her husband announcing in class that she was leaving. Do I smell negotiation tactic?
Whatever the case, it's a good thing she's staying at MSU. She's a class person, a good coach, and will only make the Big 10 more competitive. We need coaches like her.

But, I'll bet it was much easier to buy out the Maine contract than it would be with this one.
$500k x 5 years = $2.5 million.
Was the Maine contract anywhere close to that?

My thought exactly.

Normally, most contracts have a buyout clause that would be quite a bit less...

I think my main point is still valid, even if the actual number isn't. Do you think the buyout clause at Maine was anywhere close to what it is at Michigan State?
