Gosh I hope we can get out of the 1st round at least (getting nervous for the ladies...), the Wolfpack is getting really great coverage.

Nice articles by Voepel (wow Cool ) on Khadijah and the N & O on Gillian:

Yow, who turned 65 on March 14, is very, very ill. No one has to say -- or wants to say -- the exact words about how serious this is. Everyone knows. On top of that, Yow lost her father earlier this week. The power of her love for her players and for the game of basketball is what's sustaining her.

The players return those feelings. On an NC State team that has been buoyed but not overwhelmed by emotion all season, the 6-foot-2 forward Whittington epitomizes what the Wolfpack are all about.

Goring said she has regrouped from her "low" energy showing against North Carolina.

"I have to just brush it off my shoulders and get back in full mode to fight," she said.

Goring is no stranger to fighting. She has overcome poverty, language barriers, academic challenges and injuries.

Thanks for the articles, ChiChi.

It's somewhat heart over head, but I've got State making the Final Four. It's not that much of a longshot imo.

Gotta add these:

So far Voepel's featured Khadijah, Ashley, and now Shayla. If we could go further, we could almost get the whole team Cool

Also on Shayla, the student paper:

I hope it's ok to keep adding NC State article to this thread - I know there's some great articles about all the teams in the tournament.

The student newspaper has sent Nick Jeffrey's to blog the trip to Fresno.

He also has an article about Gillian and her UConn connection

Once a dream school, now motivation for Goring
Quote:
She was upset that Auriemma hadn't made contact with her during her entire time at Arkansas - Fort Smith. She felt disrespected. Goring went to her coach's office at the University, sat down and made the call to Auriemma.

"We had that conversation and it was a little disappointing to them that I changed my mind," Goring said. "They understood what was going on and they were a little upset. But they wanted the best for me as a person, not as a ballplayer, so I respect them for that."

The two haven't talked since.

Quote:
She said she would be happy to speak with the coach and forget about the past.

"Oh I don't know," Goring said. "If it happens, I will [talk to him]. He's a great person - it's a great school. I would love to just give him a hug. That was my dream school - I'd just let him know everything is OK."
Quote:

"I always thought we were going to get her, and we did," Auriemma said. "But at the same time, we never felt that she had it all together. There was always too many things missing."
