Seemingly a Marquee matchup however Duke drew 3400 to their round 2 game while UNC drew 4200.

Duke's Toby fournier is in Birmingham and practicing with the team. Great news for Duke!

Vegas is giving it to Duke, by 5-ish pts. I say the Madness muddles everything. 😮🤯

I'd take the pts and the under (121.5). Neither team is going to surprise the other and this is game 3.
Both programs are on the rise and one of them is going to get a confidence boost.

Ooooo, that Utsby pass made her look like a Minnesota Lynx type.
7-0 UNC mid first

Duke spotting UNC 11 points to start the game. That’s pretty cocky of Lawson.
Also question not putting in your highest scorer until midway through the first.

13-9 UNC end of first
Maybe Duke managed to weather the storm.
Only 9 points in 10 minutes, but they’re only down 4.

UNC's shooting % dropping like a tar-heeled rock. First half has been a see-saw battle, but a Football Score!....second half oughtta be a good one. 😎 (Please?)

28-20 Duke at the half
UNC’s big center Gakdeng leaving the game early in the second with an injury seems to be a factor in their stalling out.

I more commonly think that too many nonexistant or ticky tack fouls are called, but in this game people are getting absolutely hacked and hammered while shooting with no whistle to be heard.

UNC totally deserves to lose this. They are 0-6 shooting in this 4th Q, with a couple of airballs and too many panic-mode bombs. At a time when focus and discipline are essential, they're demonstrating neither. Where's the coach while her team is self destructing at the critical juncture?

Congrats to Duke and Coach Lawson.
Lawson has been a favorite of mine since she played at Tennessee. So happy for her.

Congrats to Duke.
They started playing by far their best basketball of the year at just the right time of the season.

NCAA should ban BOTH teams from any future tourneys until the can put an offense on the floor!
Eighty five combined points is embarrassing. I don't care how good the defense is!
This just set women's bball back 40 years.

Duke will need to shoot better to go much further. I can't see them holding South Carolina or Maryland to 28% from the floor.

The men's games yesterday averaged 90 points per team...

I share some of these sentiments as well. Not a good look for the women's game.
I guess the bright side is it was the early game and presumably fewer people watched it than the other games?

I was wondering if that was why the NCAA put them on at this time.

Yes! Thank you for the well earned congrats!
Duke's "revenge tour" has been highly successful so far and we now face another team that beat us this season. Don't underestimate a team on a mission.
Clearly this team needs a healthy Toby fournier to go further and she was at 50% or less today. When healthy, she rarely misses next to the hoop as knowing where she is in space in relation to the basket is one of her superpowers. Whatever illness she had took that away and made her look downright ordinary today. Here's hoping she gets ALL the way recovered by Sunday so we can at least break 50 pts.
We might see more of our tallest player - Jordan Wood - on Sunday to defend Sania and Joyce inside, though we've seen the 6'0 Jadyn Donovan can jump outa the gym to block just about anything.
Duke has now improved by one step each year in March Madness. 1st round, 2nd round, Sweet 16, now Elite 8. If we don't get to the final 4 this year, I expect we will next year when the team is even stronger (& taller). I believe in Toby so much, I actually predicted we'd make the Elite 8, even without our primary post player Arianna Roberson. I did not predict that Oluchi would become the breakout star she currently is. Midseason I said "watch out if her shots start falling" and then she started scoring.

I think the o/u betting line was 121. When I saw that I thought it seemed kind of high, but I didn't expect them to blow the under away by only scoring a combined 85.

Yeah, that wasn't an Offensive showcase exactly, but - I thought it was INTERESTING enough, tho not gaudy for those seeking raw entertainment.
Congrats Duke. 😎
My Biggest Consolation from this game is that Oregon scored 15 more points than UNC did, and lost by fewer points to Duke than the Tarheels did. (y'know.... we gotta find our moral victories wherever we can!) 😁

With all the adversity Oregon faced this season, I call that a victory!
