My questions are compounding:

- who are the final 7 players, I would love to see Caitlin, A’ja, Nneka, AB, and EDD on this list but that’s a pipe dream.

- who will be the coaches? I would love for it to be the all time greats - Lisa, Sheryl, Cynthia, Cheryl, Tina, Spoon

- who will be the TV announcers? I would love for this to be Sue and Candace

- what will be the rules?

- how will the teams be broken up? Only one Notre Dame guard per team? Only one Huskie per team? Or will there be some fun throwback combos?

I have many more but this will suffice for now.

Here's a bigger question, where will they practice? There will be ONE 70' special built court in existence, and 6 teams needing practice time.

Minnesota Lynx general manager Clare Duwelius and assistant coach Katie Smith have moved on from the WNBA's 2024 runner-up team.

Duwelius will become GM and executive vice president of Unrivaled, the 3x3 professional women's league that launches in January in Miami. That league was co-founded by Lynx star Napheesa Collier.

Alyssa Thomas and Stefanie Dolson are players 31 & 32 for Unrivaled.

Team roster reveals on November 20, even though they haven’t revealed all 36 players. Any chance they’re hiding Caitlin Clark until the last minute?

pretty creative and out of the box idea to have the coaches 'draft' players to the 6 clubs BEFORE the coaches are assigned to each team.

Very surprised they hired mostly male coaches. I don't think that's good look.

Spoon is the only one I've ever heard of.

I've followed Phil Handy's career as he used to play down under, and he seems a good operator.
But yeah can we maybe consider some women?

Unrivaled drama going down to the end with rosters announcing Wednesday.

Couple of notes:

- State Farm has been announced as a sponsor. Beyond Kate, Lexie, and AB as well as a GM of the league who went to her high school, this would be the strongest link to Caitlin though by no means a definitive indicator she will be participating.

- I went through and reviewed the likes on Twitter for all the players and boy oh boy. Kate Martin with over 11k. Dijonai and Reese next with about 7k each. Martin is the biggest draw they have currently. That’s a little daunting. I did enjoy seeing the bigger numbers from Reese, Carrington, and then Rickea next at 6k as those ladies represent a large fan base themselves.

- I do believe this is such an odd situation because Clark does not need the money at all. Nor does she seem supremely financially motivated. But she does seem to believe heavily in sisterhood. Her connection to the Iowa girls of course is clear. The love of her teammates in Indiana doubled down on this in spite of anything Sheryl has tried to drum up. But this moment with Unrivaled feels big in terms of the overall CBA negotiation and alignment with Clark would seem to help as she is established as the most influential character in this whole scenario. I think that will mean something to her. She has repeatedly shown she does not share the grudges the fans have. She just had an absolutely fawning video including Geno, Paige, and Juju noting the incredible job she’s done managing all of the pressure.

I love watching basketball and Caitlin is one of the most entertaining players to watch. I would have loved if A’ja and Sabrina were a part of Unrivaled too.

Here’s hoping two out of the three are announced tomorrow.

I will watch the league no matter what though. I can’t wait to see the ladies highlighted and what their vision is for a league they own.

Added complexity - NBA All Star is mid February, one month after the Unrivaled tip is scheduled on January 17th.

How would they accommodate anyone’s attendance that weekend - all the way out in the Bay Area. It seems like that could be a problem specifically for Caitlin and Sab although I’m sure it’s something that could be solved.

Big Day tomorrow

It looks like club selection starts tomorrow at 11am Eastern, followed by ticket sales starting at 1pm. We should find out about Caitlyn Clark before then as the last two players are named.

So much not to know about tomorrow. Who will the last 2 players be? How will the draft be run (Draft order, snake draft, protected players)

Here are my fearless (stupid and ill-informed) predictions

The last two players will be Sabrina Ionescu and Caitlyn Clark.

The draft is done as a straight draft rather than the fairer snake draft.

The top 6 draft picks are, in order:

1. Caitlyn Clark
2. Brianna Stewart
3. Napheesa Collier
4. Sabrina Ionescu
5. Alyssa Thomas
6. Satou Sabally

The last 6 picks are (in alphabetical order):

Rae Burrell
Jordin Canada
Lexie Hull
Kate Martin
Courtney Vandersloot
Courtney Williams

I am actually more excited for the draft than I am for the play.

From what I understand there’s not so much as a draft and the players will be split into groups and those groups will then be distributed to each team. They say by position and skill, so it will be like point guards will be a group of 6, then so on by position down the line.

I feel like the overall pod thing for players worked reasonably well; not as much fun but also much less embarrassing for certain players.

The teams as I have them:

LACES
coach : Teresa Weatherspoon

Boston
Ogunbowale
Howard
Canada
Hamby
Burrell

ROSE
coach: Nola Henry

Reese
Chelsey Gray
Copper
Sykes
Stevens
Hull

MIST
coach:

Stewart
Loyd
Carrington
Vandersloot
Edwards
Jackson

OWLS
coach:

Collier
Diggins-Smith
Allisha Gray
Cloud
Austin
(open)

Phantom
coach:

Sabally
Young
Mabrey
Hayes
Griner
(open)

LACES
coach:

Thomas
Plum
McBride
Williams
Dolson
Martin

I know there are a few unfinished items. I didn't get all the coaches.

Folks play half-court on full courts all the time. They would just have to mark where the 3-oh-3 court ends.

Of course if we knew the rules, we could answer definitively.

Have they not decided on the rules, or just making them a mystery?

But you cannot practice full court breakouts and sets on a 94' court effectively to get them to translate to a 70' court with baskets at both ends.

Will there be a half court line with over and back called at 35'? That would have to be laid down as a temp line even practicing half court sets.
