Pilight never thinks that “training camp contract” makes a difference. Confused
This is not an issue to nitpick and be critical about. 🙄

I thought Shey Peddy was going to be a Phoenix lifer along with her buddy Sophie Cunningham. I guess Phoenix is too stacked at guard now… or they need bottom dollar roster fillers.

Why not? It does make a difference. Someone who comes in on a training camp contract is anything but a lock for the final roster.

It is not that serious. Any person that is interested in player X can find out the specific details of a contract on the WNBA website.

No one mention draft picks after the first round, since most of those players are also anything but a lock for the final roster of the teams that select them.

Since some years the first round pick isn't even a lock, clearly we shouldn't bother discussing the draft at all, by that logic.

Peddy gets cut before Banham? I wonder if she’s hurt.

Sun Update: Is Connecticut great enough to compete with the league’s best teams

Quote:
The Connecticut Sun are tied at the top of the standings with a 17-4 record. They also have three All-Stars and three-straight wins. But, they’re winless against the New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces. Is that a problem?

Per trade: Banham and Jefferson to Sky. Mabrey to Sun. Future draft picks involved.

And now an actual high-value trade. Mabrey should fit right in with the Sun, and neither Jefferson or Banham were important pieces. Carrington and Harris have had their weaknesses exposed lately, but now they'll be in a rotation with a snarky vet who adds to the Sun's attitude.

A weird trade to me. Mabrey is still a quality player that I would think had more value.

Granted, the Sky dramatically overpaid when they traded for her, but they are now dumping her for a couple of spare parts and the right draft someone like Aaliyah Wilson or Zia Cooke or Stephanie Watts.

This trade is so interesting to me because the Sun get a better overall player with Mabrey but the Sky talked about how they would run their offense through her a lot of the time. Their point guards haven't run things well enough to justify this to me. But this is going to be an even spicier team now with Mabrey. I'd love to see her and Carrington go at it in practice.

Carrington is shooting 29% from three, 39% overall and has more turnovers than assists.

I'm not completely sold on her defense but she does appear to be at least a little above average.

So I have to think Mabrey should start because she spaces the floor and Harris can take the other team's quicker perimeter player. It will be interesting to see how important starting is to the members of this trio, as they should all wind up with plenty of minutes as a three-guard rotation.

Im not sure why everyone is so shocked about this trade. It's not like Chicago had a choice after the Vegas game Laughing

Seems like an exc move for the Sun. Probably won't get them to the promised land though.

Gonna miss MJ (even though she's always hurt).
