I'm not sure I get your point.

The date the portal closes is the last date a player can enter the portal and transfer without sitting out a year (except for graduate students), but there is over a thousand still in the portal without a home so plenty of options for picking up players even after the portal closes.

Sorry - my point is to vent that Marquette is taking forever to hire a coach and missing out on a number of transfers at this point. They have all of 5 players on their 24-25 roster and most don’t have much playing experience.

I do not know any of these people, but I hope one or two of them are great recruiters. Tennessee is way behind on the transfer portal and recruiting this year, and I'm not sure playing for a coach as green as Caldwell is going to be real high on recruits' plans right now.

I have actually heard of three of them. Two have been solid assistants in the SEC. Tubner helped Alabama to some of it best seasons over the past three years. Not to mention he was listed as one of the most influential assistants. Not to mention he helped put together some good recruiting classes.

Lazo was one of Purcell’s first and best assistants at MSU. Designated Defensive Coach and provides with some great adjustments.

The other two are Caldwell’s team from Marshall and Glenville, two she trusts a lot.

I think this is a really solid staff full of great hires. I think Tennessee really has the potential to put together a solid team this next season.

I get your emotional about this Tennessee stuff Summertime but you should really do your research and keep your mouth closed. Just because you don’t know who these people means nothing at all. I firmly believe Tennessee is in good hands.

Do you actually know these people or are you just quoting newspaper articles or whatever? You're a Michigan fan as evidenced by your sig line so I would suspect the latter. Whereas I'm suspicious of anything that comes out of Alabama (like Tubner) as they've done nothing but do Tennessee dirty (like Dave Hart and Jeremy Pruitt). So how about YOU stay out of it? And maybe you don't know any of them either.

I don’t know many of them personally, but I have followed and watched many of them coach. I do my research very in depth as well, which clearly you don’t. I have been doing sports analysis and writing things for chat boards for years for different sports. Yes I am very connected to Michigan, as I am from the state, and a life long fan, and know many people throughout the athletic department. And reading articles, especially if you read more than one, as well as watching most of them coach or do their job can give you good information on people.

And there is a huge difference between a school doing you wrong and people doing you wrong. Pruitt and Hart had issues, no denial, but they made their mistakes, Alabama has nothing to do with it. As most of it draws back to personality issues, and we all know that Fulmer had an awful personality and was awful as an AD.

As I said you should just keep your mouth shut about tjings you don’t know. I have heavily followed women’s basketball and Tennessee for a years. Pat Summit and Kim Mulkey are my favorite coaches and I watch them build their programs.

I could understand being upset with a higher like Pruitt but Caldwell and her staff show nothing but a huge upside.

I'd love for my alma mater to be good again, and maybe this is the way to go: Young coach successful at D2 ready to make her mark.

But it's also troubling in that UCSB is an easy place to recruit to, and I'm surprised that no one with D1 experience was intrigued enough by the offer to take the job. Of course, the NIL packages for schools like UCSB are key -- if they don't have any money for women's basketball, it's a dead-end job.

Lakeway Christian "School" is in my hometown of Morristown, TN. It is funded by a bunch of rich Baptists and is trying real hard to be another IMG Acacemy. Not nearly there yet. Their most successful WBB graduate is Maggie Vick, who rode the bench for Iowa State for 2 years and now is at cellar-dwelling Pepperdine. Not casting aspersions on Maggie, who would have done just as well at a public school (probably better), but on the school in general.
