LA waived Chennedy Carter

Not surprising in the least |
Agreed. I think she has so much untapped potential. But the writing was on the wall once they signed Clarendon and re-signed Canada. |

Who if anyone signs her and
Do they do it off the waiver wire or wait for her to clear waivers and offer her a minimum deal
My guess for possible suitors PX, Dallas, Indy, Chicago?
I wonder if Seattle, Conn or Minny would take a chance? They have possible rosters spots.

Please dont include Dallas ...bibb needs to stay as far away from this one as possible if he really means business about a culture change in Dallas. Especially with a new 1st Year HC . Even though she's from LA we don't need her bringing any left overs with her that may cause friction with our new squad and nucleus of Arike , Howard and McCowan . Carter is a great talent , but its more High risk low reward when it comes to her professional career. Quickly becoming the new age Betty Lennox .

though to be fair to Betty Lennox, her W career at least lasted more than a decade
i'd take a one-year flier on Carter for the Storm. fuck it, why not? what's there to lose [that we haven't lost already since the end of last season]?
my guess is that the Sparks opted to waive Carter because other teams – while none wanted to trade for her – showed enough interest in acquiring her on the waiver wire, such that the Sparks would be successful in getting her contract fully off their books.
i hope Carter finds her way – whatever that may look like, & wherever that is.
the 2020 draft class outside of Ionescu... what a disasterclass it's turned out to be, good god.

Just took a second look at the draft board, and even with me being wrong about being the Gondrezick draft, yikes this is giving the 2003 "yes, we started day drinking in the second round and took turns throwing darts to make each other's draft picks" draft a run for its money. It's Sabrina, Satou Sabally when healthy, and then... uh... Dangermouse? Ty Harris?

If Bird was still playing and Stewie left to the Liberty then i would say that a veteran like Bird would be a really good option to try to mentor her. Lets try it but now with only Loyd there i dont think it will go all that well. But we are going to struggle to make the playoffs anyway so why not.

She's a sub-5'10 guard, which is just what LA was in desperate need of when pick #14 came around!
She's a promising young player who has come up through the aussie junior system at the national team level. Entered the WNBL 2 seasons ago and only touched the court in a handful of games at the end of the season (understandably, in a senior pro league at her age). She was then forced into a much larger role than planned this past season due to a bunch of injuries on her team. Started most games. She was seemingly given the green light to just ball, meaning plenty of inefficiency and rookie mistakes, but also showed some very nice offensive talent.
I think 1 more season down here to mature her game would be ideal if possible before trying for the W.

Swain was pretty decent in the recent Hoop Summit game against most of the best US prospects about to enter the NCAA, as well. Nyadiew Puoch, another Aussie who won't be draft eligible until next year (or much later, if she goes the NCAA route), also looked pretty good. Aussie system still churning out some talent. |
