25 schools got both their men's and women's teams into the big dance. Which one has the best chance to win both?
Alabama
Arizona
Baylor
Connecticut
Creighton
Drake
Duke
Gonzaga
Illinois
Indiana
Iona
Iowa
Marquette
Maryland
Miami (FL)
Mississippi State
NC State
Princeton
Purdue
Tennessee
Texas
UCLA
USC
Vermont
West Virginia

UConn feels like the only team with anything but a miniscule chance.

" Best" chance of this group? Probably Texas, Tenn or UCLA.
Actual chance to win both? None. Not even close. Seems much further from actual chance than usual, if my memory serves me.

Having seen both Indiana teams sweep my Boilers this year, I blocked them from my mind ....

Interesting to me that only three No. 1 seeds across both tournaments (Purdue, Alabama, Indiana) see their counterpart team even make the cut. I don't know historical numbers, but that feels like it has to be on the low side.

Duke men are the 5 seed with the best chance of winning it all, given recent redhot play. For Duke women, making the FF would be a HUGE upset, of epic proportions. Kind of like Duke women's first FF in 1999, beating #2 ODU and #1 (overall) Tennessee. Unfortunately, this team does not have the knock down shooters the 99 team had.
I have to agree that it's highly unlikely to happen this year for any school.

Duke men would likely have to beat a Sweet 16 opponent that has already blown them out once this season ...

I don't follow MCBB anymore, but I caught the end of the ESPN bracket reveal show and I believe all four talking heads had the UConn men in the FF, and Jay Bilas had UConn winning the NC.
So, I'd say UConn for the bi-NC. |

Are you keeping track of first one to win neither?
11 seed Illinois women lost to 11 seed Miss St.
Now 9 seed Illinois men have lost to 8 seed Arkansas.
So Pilight, is that a record for a quick exit, for one school that made it into both tournaments (something to be applauded by the way) loses in a play-in game and a 1st round game?
Hey. It's still better than not making it with one or both teams, but has to be really disappointing for their fans.

Ok, so, we all root for Vermont to win both, right? What a cinderella story that would be after Vermont's *ugly* win to clinch their berth.

I'm guessing MarquetteFan isn't rooting for them right now

Probably not Tennessee, much as I hate to say it. The guys lost their PG a to an ACL (not just the ladies it happens to!) so that’s kinda by committee, and they have a distressing habit of doing something dumb at the wrong time.

Woof. That was brutal. The worst fan experience of my life. Even if everyone comes back and this team is ranked No. 1 for a while next year again, it will be very hard for me to get excited at all.

Now it’s down to two—and probably one after tonight. UConn is not impossible but I still wouldn’t bet that way.
